Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Our neighborhood was a real community. Today, I don't see that same type of community in my area of SoCal. There are many single-parent families. Most women work outside the home. Unfortunately, land is at such a premium that most people don't have yards for large gatherings. Kids are in day care and participate in organized activities like dance or sports. However, the need for "community" seems to be as strong as ever. We are just finding new and creative ways to build them.

Stories of the traveler and programmer. Friday, December 31, 2010. Been a great 2010 here in NYC. Reiko aren't ready for kids, so we did the next best thing and adopted a dog from the local shelter. He's a godsend, and his presence has definitely changed our lives since we both work full time and have to be around to take care of him. Also was able to see the release of my first video game this year - in Japanese, no less! That's a huge accomplishment for me and very proud of that. Check it out here.
