Stories of the traveler and programmer. Friday, December 31, 2010. Been a great 2010 here in NYC. Reiko aren't ready for kids, so we did the next best thing and adopted a dog from the local shelter. He's a godsend, and his presence has definitely changed our lives since we both work full time and have to be around to take care of him. Also was able to see the release of my first video game this year - in Japanese, no less! That's a huge accomplishment for me and very proud of that. Check it out here.

Using Namespace: Things I saw Recently around Union Square

http://usingnamespace.blogspot.com/2010/10/things-i-saw-recently-around-union.html

Stories of the traveler and programmer. Thursday, October 21, 2010. Things I saw Recently around Union Square. Everyday I pass through Union Sq. Rush hour is really fookin' busy. I've got a lot of alternative ways I could go to get to / from work, but as far as I can tell this is still the fastest way to get to work. A guy carrying a garbage-bag size clear sack of glazed donuts. Must've been at least 100! Two biotches screaming at each other and pulling each other's hair - ha! A guy without a nose.

Stories of the traveler and programmer. Thursday, November 26, 2009. Hooked on the brothers? I am And so is Reiko. We're both dorks! And it's awesome. It's our new evening spectacular: forget crappy television programming, we've got New Super Mario Bros. Wii. And it's total fan service this time, bringing back all the best elements of SMB3 and SMW (Yoshi! Live Report: Skeleton Key and Jesus Lizard. Forgot to tell you that I saw Jesus. The write up on Brooklyn Vegan. Summed it up well:. But the "king" in ...

Stories of the traveler and programmer. Friday, February 19, 2010. Japan 2010: The Laptop Incident. Man, I've been quiet on here. Haven't mentioned a peep about my trip to Japan yet, which was totally sweet. Got so absorbed with taking everything in while I was over there I never found the time to write about it. Then! So next up: Let's talk about Japan. It was a great trip, so many stories to tell! I'll start this off with the story of Andrew's laptop aka The Laptop Incident. Then, it dawned on me: I wa...

Well my mind's been wandering…. So, it’s been. Make me who I am today. I guess I had to go through it to really 1) learn what friends are 2) learn how to deal with shit 3) become my own person. When I made a bold choice – one that I look back on in a sort of. Thank goodness i did that. it was a good idea,. So, all in all? The biggest thing that I’m thankful for this year is my happiness. (Spoiler alert for those coming over. Sorry). I didn’t know I could be this happy again. O...And you know what? Normal...

Ashes Not Dust

Wednesday, April 24, 2013. It's true. I've moved. Thanks to my dear (amazing, creative, fantastic, awesome, patient, generous) friend Beth K., this little ol' blog has an official new home. Come visit? I'll be waiting (and, um, hopefully writing as well). From now on, find me using my time permanently here. Thoughts from Steph M. Tuesday, February 12, 2013. You know who you are. So I recently went to a concert, a show. Close to the same time last week (coincidence? And plays the drums? Is sooo into music?

Ashes Not Dust | A reminder to live, not to exist… and to use my time.

A reminder to live, not to exist… and to use my time. Jan 20, 2015 -. Just under the wire…. And then I stopped. And I felt ashamed. And sad. For so many different reasons — not the least of which was thoughtlessly judging some young burgeoning writer, simply because her brand-new blog wasn’t the height of clever, compelling, accomplished writing. At least she was writing. And shocked cold, I realized that was something I absolutely could NOT say. Get in the way of. Not a bad way to come back, right?

Using My Voice

Sunday, May 28, 2006. The Pitfalls of Perception. Why am I thinking about perception this week? Because this week gave us the culmination of this season's American Idol reality show. Unless you have been living in a cave, most of you are probably aware that Taylor Hicks ( http:/ taylorhicks2006.com/. Defeated Katherine McPhee ( http:/ katharinefans.com/. To take the crown as the fifth American Idol. Because they still remembered the Clay Aiken they first saw in January, 2003. The 23 year old college ...

Using My Voice | I’m a concerned citizen expressing my thoughts and observations about Prop 8

Why was this not on the news? I want to know why this news conference wasn’t shown on the news. It looks to me like the liberal media is trying to stifle free speech. I can’t believe this next video was not show on the national news. It is totally appalling. Please write the networks to let them know as journalists it is their duty to present all the facts in an unbiased manner. November 15, 2008. Tags: 1st ammendment. No for prop 8. I’m just curious….
