I remember a world without internets or mobile phones and digital gadgets. Computers. Anyway, never say die . I made up a previous favourite pattern M6277. The pattern has been reveiwed on PR as running large at the waist, which is great for the non wasp waisted. With little adjustments each time this will be my TNT sheath. These are a...

http://valeriesownsewingblog.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Welcome to my blog. Thanks to the internet sewing inspiration knows no borders. Tuesday, 30 September 2014. V1349 made into a top. There's nothing like a quick serger project. I have just made up V1349 on Pattern Review. It's at the end of the post. There was also just enough for a top with self bindings and it became this:. Both reviewers on Pattern Review said that the pattern ran loose when made up in wovens so I knew I would have to scale down the fit. I'd compared my daughter's measurements to the f...

http://valeriesownsewingblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/burda-022015128-top.html

I think in English, struggle through Russian and wish I was fluent in French.but inspiration knows no borders. Sunday, 3 May 2015. It has been a few weeks between postings. I've been busy with other things although I can't really complain if life gets in the way of sewing when it involves other things I wanted to do. Life is short and I want to live it. I bought February Burda when it reached the shops here because it had some fresh ideas in it rather than reworkings of previous themes. But my order was ...

Saturday, October 22, 2011. My sewing room.project. Thought I'd share with you what I've been up to these past few days.amazing what some time off from work produces, besides very sore muscles from moving things I should not be moving! I've already taken my machines up and will take a pic when it's set up. Oct 22, 2011, 7:20:00 PM. But I...

http://littlesewingalcove.blogspot.com/2011/11/jean-jacket-m5860-done.html

Monday, November 21, 2011. Jean Jacket M5860 done. It's complete. I'm pretty happy with the results, although the pockets look huge in this picture. The color is a dark Army green, which my camera did not pick up. I topstitched it in a light green. The buttons are from my stash and as I said before, the fabric was given to me.bonus! Next up, another blazer for work.that is, when I go back! I love a jean jacket. Olive green is a good color for one too. Nice job! Nov 25, 2011, 7:13:00 AM. SEW MUCH TO SEW.

My Little Sewing Alcove: Butterick Jacket and Vest Done

http://littlesewingalcove.blogspot.com/2011/12/butterick-jacket-and-vest-done.html

Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Butterick Jacket and Vest Done. Amongst the fabric my sister gave me, she also gave me patterns. In the box I found this jacket and thought it was really cute. Not sure how old it is or if they even print it anymore. I decided on the red one. I added about two inches to the hemline. This picture is up close so you can see the fabric better. Even if I wear a different color top, no one will even know. I just got a new job.so one more thing to wear! Dec 6, 2011, 7:48:00 PM. Widge...

Saturday, January 31, 2015. It's been 3 years. Hello all. It's been a long time since I've posted. A lot has happened in these three years. I want to start sewing and writing again. I always had so much fun creating garments and reading about yours. In these past years, I lost my husband and best friend to an illness. That was the hardest thing I've gone through. A month before our 40th wedding anniversary.never made it. Of course all the while listening to some good tunes. Feb 3, 2015, 8:56:00 AM. Gerti...

My Little Sewing Alcove: Brother PE500 Embroidery machine

http://littlesewingalcove.blogspot.com/2015/02/brother-pe500-embroidery-machine.html

Sunday, February 1, 2015. Brother PE500 Embroidery machine. On an impulse, I purchased this machine last Fall. Not sure of it, the jury is still out. I bought it refurbished from Amazon. Works amazing. But, did I really need it? NO Guess I needed a "happy" in my life, living with someone for 40 years, then BAM alone, will do it every time. Oh well, guess it makes it unique. It's for my grandsons.I still have to put a backing on it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Little Sewing Alcove.

My Little Sewing Alcove: Hobo Bag - done!

http://littlesewingalcove.blogspot.com/2011/10/hobo-bag-done.html

Tuesday, October 18, 2011. Hobo Bag - done! I had this piece of gold paisley print hanging around for years. I thought it matched nicely. It's hard to see, but I put in a pocket on the right for a cell phone. I skipped the larger pocket on the other side. Took it outside for a brighter picture. It's actually alot bigger than this picture shows. In fact it's big enough to throw in a magazine, lunch and wallet and use it as a tote bag for work! Oct 19, 2011, 7:45:00 AM. Friday, November 4, 2011. More alterations.creating lining for an unlined jacket. I took a tissue from a pattern that I will never use.laid it over the jacket back and poked holes around the armsyches and side seam.then cut it out from that. Then I laid it over the jacket to make sure I sized it correctly. I did cut it a tad larger just in case of error. Just two pieces.that's it! She didn't want the sleeves done. Saturday, February 14, 2015. Ethan enjoying his new quilt. We had fun playing while his parents went out for their anniversary dinner. I bought the already cut squares from an Etsy seller. Sure wish I could remember the name of her shop so I could give her "kudos" but it was so long ago. Now off for another cup of coffee and watch all the snow falling yet again. At least it's Saturday and I have absolutely nowhere to go! Feb 27, 2015, 6:24:00 AM. So happy to hear from you too! Feb 28, 2015, 8:17:00 AM.

Friday, November 18, 2011. Sneak Peak - McCalls 5860 Jean Jacket. I bought this pattern last year.I think. My sister gave me a box of fabric that she didn't want. oooo, free fabric, what's better than that? In that box was an Army green denim piece. I'm thinking, this would be perfect for that jacket pattern I have. I'm stitching through it pretty quickly. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Little Sewing Alcove.

Valerie's Spain 2007 Blog. The Romans in Spain and if they had it easy. Tuesday, July 10, 2007. July 10, 2007 San Antonio, Texas. Jazz music can sound the same to people no matter where they go,. valeriespainart | Frustration is one of the great things in art. ~Guston

Frustration is one of the great things in art. Guston. Can You Make Too Much Art? April 21, 2016. April 19, 2016. For me, the desire to make is always there, and it’s especially pressing after coming into contact with the creativity of other artists, whether in the theater, a museum or book. But to actually make something I always have to scale a few obstacles. 2 The feeling that art-making(includes all art forms) can’t possibly matter in a world so full of suffering.
