Home Is Where the Beetroot Is. Tuesday, March 2, 2010. There are a lot of "growing pains" that come with living in a new city. Basically, quadruple that when it's in a new country. All these different stores and brands to get used to. Having limited internet access hasn't helped matters. Even food differences are a little overwhelming. Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Apparently I've had some concerned readers wondering where we are with our kitty immigration drama. So I figured I'd post an update. We've spoken to some Aussie immigrants who dealt with similar issues to get some perspective and here's what we learned:. So quarantine it is. Our vet recommended an agency to us called Pet Express. My only remaining concern is getting him food he likes. Not that he's one of those snobby Fancy Feast cats. UPDATE: I found Nutro distributors here.

Sunday, November 22, 2009. Since I'll be spending Thanksgiving away from my husband and family this year, I was glad to have a pre-Thanksgiving celebration yesterday with a bunch of rocking vegans. Though I've got a full day until the countdown, my Sydney-sider friends will be rocking in the new year in just a few hours, so I thought I'd go ahead and post my look back at the year that was 2009. Thursday, February 11, 2010. I ended up actually missing Valentine's Day in transit, but once I arrived in Sydney Tim and I had our own V-day dinner at Bodhi. In Hyde Park. It was one of the more spontaneous things I've ever done and we'd likely not be living here now had I not taken the chance. And now I love living in a country that celebrates that sense of adventure. In November of 2009, I decided to try out this whole vegan thing. It started out as an environmental thing after reading the UN's "Livestock's Long Shadow" report, but quickly I came to appreciate the health, ethical, and philosophical aspects also. I am currently in the Global Studies program at the New School in NYC. This means I study things like urban homelessness, human trafficking, the impact of climate change on third world countries, and the politics behind it all. I am intolerant of intolerance.
