View From An Empty Nest. Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Back on the road, we headed for Volcanoes National Park. And then it happened! What, you say? Well, we finally got to see our very first, in the wild Nene. Actually four of them, just hanging out at the side of the road, browsing in the grasses there. The Nene is the State bird of Hawaii, and is an endangered bird. Somebody's Father wisely asked, "Should I turn around and go back? Not one of the ones we bought, but pretty! Looks like an awesome day.

View From An Empty Nest. Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Closing in on the end. Today, after four weeks of having six beds, two dressers, a desk, assorted household goods, eight doors, several extra dining chairs, a large, old TV and miscellaneous food storage items crammed into our family room, we finally got the replacement carpet installed so that we can start putting some of the stuff back where it belongs. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). OK, then I take back my negative hug. Closing in on the end.

View From An Empty Nest. Friday, February 12, 2010. Today we got to use our Thursday tickets for the Statue of Liberty for the ferry and a tour of the base/monument and displays. Tickets to climb up into the crown are sold out weeks in advance, so we couldn’t reschedule that part. We spent so much time in the monument looking at things that we ran out of time to go to Ellis Island. Maybe we’ll have a chance again someday. Looking back at Manhattan from Liberty Island. Replica of one of Lady Liberty's feet.

View From An Empty Nest. Saturday, August 14, 2010. About that bruise on my leg. So last week, I went to Girls’ Camp. As the cook. Cooking meals for 150 people. For 5 days. But that isn’t where I got the bruise. You see, Girls’ Camp cooking requires lots of advanced planning, shopping, preparation, cooking, freezing, etc. And I spent lots of time doing all that planning, shopping, preparation, cooking, freezing, etc. But that isn’t how I got the bruise. And that's how I got that bruise on my leg.

More Bacon Than the Pan Can Handle: Where on Earth Have I Been??

http://morebaconthanthepancanhandle.blogspot.com/2014/05/where-on-earth-have-i-been.html

More Bacon Than the Pan Can Handle. Watch, learn, and don't eat my cookie. Where on Earth Have I Been? Sorry for the blogging failure, everyone. I sure have been missing in action for a while. So what has been going on in my life, you ask? Uh alas, nothing interesting. I have been working. My job is great. The people are tremendous, the work is cutting edge and compelling, and I get to do it all while living in the greatest city in the world. We had a long, dark, awful winter, but now it's over! Let me t...

More Bacon Than the Pan Can Handle: The Heat is On

http://morebaconthanthepancanhandle.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-heat-is-on.html

More Bacon Than the Pan Can Handle. Watch, learn, and don't eat my cookie. The Heat is On. I finally got heat back in the middle of the night Friday. It took the weekend for my building to warm back up, but I'm relieved to no longer be so very very cold. I spent the cold days using hand warmers in gloves and socks, sitting on a heating pad, and then ultimately buying a space heater for a wintery day of working from home due to snow. Next adventure: finding a place in my apartment for the space heater!

http://morebaconthanthepancanhandle.blogspot.com/2013/09/cracking-myself-up.html

More Bacon Than the Pan Can Handle. Watch, learn, and don't eat my cookie. When I'm really tired, sometimes as I'm falling asleep or just waking up, I think the most random things. I often write them down because I somehow have the presence of mind to know that I'll find them funny later, even though I don't find them funny at that moment. Some recent funny things I've thought during this time:. Counting to one in Russian is the same as counting to one in Picard.". I love counting in Picard! He isn't so ...

Seaver Family News: September 2014

http://seaverfamilynews.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 19, 2014. Star Wars and Angry Birds were the big themes of this birthday. Actually, it was the combination of the two, Angry Birds Star Wars that was a hit. Seriously, the person who thought to combine those two has to be raking it in. This was also the first year I did an actual birthday party. JJ invited 5 of the nicest kids over and they had a really good time. Some things about JJ at 7:. Loves Star Wars and Angry Birds. Loves non-fiction books and anything science related.

Tuesday, September 3, 2013. July 8- Luke is 2 months old. Still mostly just eating, sleeping, and pooping. I love his cute, nekkid body. He's a pretty good sleeper, consistently sleeping 4-5 hours at a time a night, eating and going right back to bed. He's still eating a ton although we've been able to cut back on some of the extra bottles. But still, at his 2 month check up he weighed 14 lbs and was 24 inches long (he has a big head, like his brothers). Sunday, September 1, 2013. View my complete profile.

Monday, May 6, 2013. This guy keeps life interesting. There is never a dull (or quiet) moment when he's around. For his birthday, he wanted a planet party with an Earth cake. I have to say, it's the easiest cake I've ever made. He got a Star Wars 3-D book, and some electronics and a stomp rocket, all of which were a big hit. Things JJ loves at 6:. Still loves the color green, although occasionally it's purple. He is really into Star Wars. I mean really. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Seaver Family News: 7 months old-December 8

http://seaverfamilynews.blogspot.com/2013/12/7-months-old-december-8.html

Friday, December 20, 2013. 7 months old-December 8. Luke loves to smile and will smile at anyone, as long as mom is holding him. He is still sleeping well. His naps are few and short, and he is often up at night. He made his first long distance car ride to Vegas for Thanksgiving. He did okay in the car, but not great and while he had a really good time, not sleeping at home really threw him off. His giant smile just melts my heart! Im a total puddle of mushy aunt silliness whenever he smiles at me.

View from the Empty Nest. Wednesday, June 24, 2015. End of the Journey. The final leg of our Alaskan trip was up to Fairbanks.
