For the past two weeks, every waking moment has been consumed by by Peachtree Charter Middle School's Executive Council Retreat (I have the honor of serving the school as Chair) and by this: the 2009 Butterfly Festival at Dunwoody Nature Center. To cool my roaring jets, I've played with a design-as-you-go shawl, incorporating a series of motifs and trims from several sources with some archaic soft, worsted weight pink yarn found at an estate sale.

I love the glorious blue skies, crispness in the air, swirling leaves, and disappearance of gnats, mosquitoes, and flies. I'm not alone. Evidently, a lot of people try to come up with ways to make the chore easier, or at least more interesting. I sure miss the weekly leaf pick-up where we lived in North Carolina - you just blew and raked everything to the curb and a single truck would vacuum everything up.
