Vino d'Auge

Monday, March 23, 2009. Tscharke - Mediterranean varietals. A Monday visit to Damien Tscharke's. Joint with the collaboration of Red White. Only ever-so-slightly against the grain, Damien is producing some paradoxically über-fruity-yet-complex expressions of Euro varietals in the Barossa Valley (of South Australia). Remember, this is the home of 'Vino d'Auge Montepulciano' - grown by Damien, vinified by James Erskine, and to be enjoyed by all this coming May! The family working the pump-overs. In a momen...

Vino d'Auge: Biodynamics by Dr Suess

http://vinobyauge.blogspot.com/2009/03/biodynamics-by-dr-suess.html

Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Biodynamics by Dr Suess. We all like the idea of biodynamics, but no-one makes me want it more than Dr Seuss. Thanks Dave (Teusner) for passing this on. BACKGROUND TO VINO D'AUGE. Italian grape varietals have been cultivated in Australia for over 50 years but have remained on the fringe of acceptance until now. A few suggestions why;. Improvements in clonal material that concentrates flavours and enhances finished wine-structure;. This is where vino by Auge was born. For your ape...

Vino d'Auge: Vendemmia all' improvviso!

http://vinobyauge.blogspot.com/2009/03/vendemmia-all-improvviso.html

Monday, March 16, 2009. In a momentary decision (on Sunday 15th March) that took all by suprise, the prosecco had. To be picked by yesterday (Monday 16th) at the latest. Thanks to Silvio for his flexibility, and the picking crew (fielded mostly by the home team, thank you! Sunday: Prosecco looking spot-on. The rapid ripening in the two weeks since the last visit is incredible. Harvest cannot be held off any longer in order to hold any measure of delicacy in the finished wine. BACKGROUND TO VINO D'AUGE.

Vino d'Auge: Vino d'Auge Veraison

http://vinobyauge.blogspot.com/2009/03/vino-dauge-veraison.html

Saturday, March 7, 2009. I spent a Sunday with Anton Van Klopper looking at the Dean's sangiovese and the Dal Cin's prosecco. After seeing devastated vineyards in other regions, it was a relief to see such healthy looking vines with excellent fruit set. There is another week or so to go for the prosecco and probably around 3 weeks to go for the sangiovese. Sangiovese with quite some ripening to go. Spider webs keeping the grape-loving birds off the sangiovese. I'll ask Judy and Duncan next time I see them.

Vino d'Auge: Maverick Wines - from Barossa to Eden

http://vinobyauge.blogspot.com/2009/03/maverick-wines-from-barossa-to-eden.html

Saturday, March 7, 2009. Maverick Wines - from Barossa to Eden. And Decant were generous enough to treat a small group of Adelaide wine professionals and one complete unprofessional (moi) to a curated tour of their vineyards and wine facilities in Greenock, Vinevale, and Eden Valley. Maverick has a spectacular collection of very old-vine vineyards through these appellations and is farmed biodynamically to ensure optimum fruit character. How I love juicy, cinnamon-nutmeg-gy, floral, spicy Greenock shiraz.

Tuesday, April 20, 2010. EAST COAST ENOLOGY PROGRAMS. A public program could help promote the development of vineyards in New England and help strengthen the economic vitality of an agricultural activity where preservation of agriculture is a strong goal. Posted by Gino at 7:54 PM. Sunday, April 18, 2010. In any case, it is a trend I hope continues to gain momentum. This is especially true as I am reading "The Omnivore's Dilemna" by Michael Pollan. Vino by Gino Story

Vino by Gino Story. Sunday, June 04, 2006. THE VINO BY GINO STORY. As someone who has enjoyed wine for many years, I realized that I rarely, if ever, get to enjoy the class of wines featured in the movie, in Wine Spectator and other similar sources. Much is written about those fine wines, but those are not the wines that are enjoyed by people like me on a daily (or even annual! The web site www.terroir-france.com presents the following definition:. Terroir = Region Appellation Grapes Wine making. There a...
