Wednesday, March 29, 2006. CANTINE BONACCHI 2004 MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO DOC. This wine has a deep red, purplish color. It is dry, but with a slight fruity flavor. I have had other brands of this wine with a bit sweeter, fruitier taste than this one. I think I paid $7.99 for a 750 milliter bottle. The bottle is about average. Tuesday, February 20, 2007. I was attracted to this wine by a large sign in the store advertising it. I found the bottle to be very attractive as the label includes a map of Molise from the 1600’s. The name MOLISSIMO is in bold gold letters on a maroon background at the top of the label. I loved it. The fourth glass was also great (and probably supports the idea that Vacu-Vin is worth the effort). I will certainly buy more of this wine in the future. Wednesday, September 27, 2006. 2004 CHATEAU HAUT SOCIONDO. This is a special wine because it was given to me by co-worker whose family is originally from Scotland. One branch of the family migrated to France more than 200 years ago and became a prominent producer of wine in the Bordeaux region. There will be more about that below. The wine came with a good quality natural cork. It was inscribed with the name of the producer and the year of the wine. The Company: Nath Johnston et Fils. The company web site.

Sunday, August 27, 2006. More on Home Made Wines. I asked my cousin about his methods. He told me that he blends three kinds of grapes: cabernet, sangiovese and I think he said canberra. The wine is roughly 60% cabernet and 30% sangiovese with a little of the third grape, He sometimes uses merlot grapes, but he said they were a bit sensitive and can go bad. Wednesday, May 17, 2006. 2003 GEORGES DUBOEUF BEAUJOLAIS-VILLAGES. I have always been intrigued by the Beaujolais Nouveau craze every November in which people race to be among the first to taste the new Beaujolais wines. While it is not nouveau season, I decided to pick up a bottle because I never had Beaujolais of any kind and I had a very positive image of it. If that is what I was tasting in this wine, no wonder I enjoyed it so much! I like blackberries and plums too! The Company: Georges Duboeuf.
