Tuesday, January 22, 2013. A red blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Reverly Vintners. Fast forward 24 hours and the wine is barely changed, revealing a bit more oak in the aroma. It tastes the same and pairs the same with my leftovers. But it's growing on me. This raises the question, is this just an average red wine or something more sophisticated? This wine is the Cellar Rat's. UPDATE: Reverly's website now has information on the 2010 Reveler. Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Finds from Mount Etna. During a recent visit to Cellar Rat,. Two Italian wines grabbed my attention: The Etna Rosso and Etna Bianco from Tenuta delle Terre Nere. My curiosity was pique for a couple of reasons. For starters, the Etna Bianco had a hand written recommendation from one of the staff describing it as one of the most unique white wines in the shop. I had also recently read an article by Talia Baiocchi in the 2012 Fall issue of Wine and Spirits. Finds from Mount Etna.

If you are a Sauvignon Blanc hater, then too bad because this wine is only going to reinforce your feelings about this grape. Tuesday, February 19, 2013. The Missouri Winery of Westphalia Vineyards. The Prodigal Son actually drinks even better with a slight chill to it. Drinking at a cooler temperature further accentuates the freshness of the wine and makes some of the rich fruit flavors more crisp. During the summer, it would be a good drink with burgers or spicy sausages hot off the grill. I paid $15 for the Prodigal Son and according to the winery's website, there are multiple locations. Saturday, April 14, 2012. It's spring and I have started my annual ritual of hoarding pink wines. Of course, not all rose is straight up pink. Some are light cherry, to pale pink, or in the case of the 2010 Aglianico Rose from Terradorra Di Paulo. On the palate, red fruit flavors are followed up by a pleasant savory and spicy finish.
