Belle Mode, Belle Histoire. Sewing fashions of the past. Chemise a la –wah wah…. Chemise a la reine. Asymp; 2 Comments. Chemise a la reine. My chemise a la Reine/Oberkampf was not. Where my finger is–that’s where the waist channel should be: about 3 inches above where it currently sits at center front. The underbust channel sits between my waist and underbust in the 18th century stays, so it has to be shifted up by about 2 inches. These aren’t insurmountable problems, but I only had 1 day left to m...

Kitten Vintage: Happy (Vintage) Camper
http://debyclark.blogspot.com/2013/11/happy-vintage-camper.html
Loving and selling all things vintage. Saturday, 16 November 2013. When I was a child we went camping most Christmas holidays. Usually in a tent. When I was in grade 6 Dad took three months longs service leave, bought a camper-trailer and 4WD and took us travelling around Australia. Ours was a 1970s 'cabana', a bit like this one, which I suppose would now be vintage. If you were to own a vintage caravan what would be your style? Would you love a classic mid-century vintage Shasta? 60s ford and shasta.

Kitten Vintage: Eating & Menu Planning 1950s Style
http://debyclark.blogspot.com/2011/11/in-1950s-guidelines-for-good-eating.html
Loving and selling all things vintage. Wednesday, 16 November 2011. Eating and Menu Planning 1950s Style. Portion control was suggested and encouraged in the 1950s, based upon age and activity level. Children and teens needed larger portions than adults. Sedentary individuals required smaller portions than someone who was quite athletic or worked a physical job. It all makes sense. My 1950s “Complete Household Guide” explains it thus:. Back then, exercise included:. There were also some dangerous diet tr...

American Duchess: April 2015
http://americanduchess.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2015. 1770s Polonaise - Progress, but Slowly! 1770s Polonaise - the skirts are drawn up with cords, to create the three partition effect the gown is named for. Work on this crazy froofy dress comes in spurts, but now that I only have about a month to get it done, I best knuckle down! I can see why it's not a style made by many. It's *complicated.* Seriously. To clarify, this type*. And if I had it to do over again, there are a hundred things I would do differently. Luckily, though,...

American Duchess: A Basic 1920s Frock
http://americanduchess.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-basic-1920s-frock.html
Monday, May 18, 2015. A Basic 1920s Frock. Frock" is exactly what I should call this dress, even though I don't really like the word. I found this -frock- on Etsy for an excellent price, and was so pleased to find it in amazing condition when it arrived. It's wool and neither has moth holes nor stinks of mothballs! Some interesting and typical seaming on the skirt makes this more than just a sack. Even though it's a little scratchy to wear, and is basically a lace-trimmed sack, I LOVE it! Ive never reall...

Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Newspaper headlines from just a few days after the Titanic Disaster.such a tragic event.my husband never ceases to amaze me with what he pulls out of the archives. It's only been 6 months since I last was here, and lost my lovely wall paper. One of these days I will figure out how to get Minima background back and restore that. I've just finished constructing a cream puff of a dress for a pending local Titanic Tea Event sponsored by The Great Basin Costume Society. Does the green...
