Allow me to reintroduce myself. Thursday, April 30, 2015. As I've written before. FFX begins memorably. "At Zanarkand", the game's opening theme, is evocative of the as-yet unknown disasters that we will be experiencing in the future, as players. The cast is depressed, sitting around the fire as if too heavy to physically move at all. A meaningful glance between Tidus and Yuna, but that's it. How do these amusingly dressed characters become so despondent and physically exhausted? Isn't this Final Fantasy?

And it struck me how strange my excitement was. This was just video game music, right? Most of the musical game memories I have are minor additions to the games in question. To wit: the stacked soundtrack on NBA Live 2000. Classics from the original Super Mario Bros. The opening sequence to Maxium Carnage.
