The project is based on collecting examples of design that illustrate each of the interaction categories. As such it will be made significant by the contribution of students and practitioners and will grow in its purpose as people participate. If you feel that you have examples that already meet the criteria described we would love to hear from you. Alternatively if you would like us to run a project that introduces the ideas and will generate potential solutions we would also be interested.

emphasis

http://visable.org.uk/emphasis.html

Sometimes we simply want to make something stand out. Artists use a technique called creating 'emphasis' to direct the eye to important parts of a picture or sculpture; this can be an important part of conveying the desired message. The goal for design may be that we wish to design a whole object that is particularly striking or to make elements of a composition more prominent. Some of the techniques we can include to help are:. Visual Elements and the Physiology of the Eye. Visual Elements .fla.

flow

http://visable.org.uk/flow.html

How can we increase engagment or a sense of Flow. Can be a nebulous term, because it has different definitions for a variety of situations, and yet its meaning can be quite profound. Mihály Csíkszentmihály suggests that Flow. Is the mental state of operation in which a person is fully immersed. For an interaction process flow also increases our level of engagement and pleasure. Which can increase productivity and effectiveness. Here are some wiki-pedia definitions:. Middot; Flow (computer networking).

consistency

http://visable.org.uk/consistency.html

Keeping designs 'consistent' can be defined, for interaction design, as keeping working models, navigation and screen layouts consistent throughout a design or more broadly keeping the whole interface consistent with our likely mental model of it. Consistency with our expectations when using a design will influence our sense of comfort and security, it is also helpful to make us feel oriented 'where we are' with something both spatially and more broadly.

organize

http://visable.org.uk/organize.html

We are not all perfect good at ensuring that we have neatly paired socks in one drawer and carefully seperated pants in another are we? However it does make life considerably easier if we can get round to sorting things out into categories, just because we can find them! Finding items on interfaces is just the same. It is possible to ensure that things are organized according to our mental picture of how they should be seperated in meaning. See the section on Flow, where we consider where things are ...

The unrepentant yarn whore

The unrepentant yarn whore. I need my yarn fix and I need it now! August 22nd, 2014. Vera Lakey - I miss you mommy. As some of you know, my mother was diagnosed with cancer back around the first of April. I have stayed by her side since then doing all I could to care for her. Its been stressful to say the least. She was stage 4. Inoperable. Terminal and with hospice. Look around you and take note of those you love and who love you. Hold them closer. Tell them you love them. If you're estrange...I abandon...

VisibleLearning

The cost of bad data is the illusion of knowledge - Stephen Hawking. Monday, 18 January 2016. An investigation of the evidence John Hattie presents in Visible Learning. At the 2005 ACER conference. Hattie said, "We must contest the evidence – as that is the basis of a common understanding of progression.". Then in Visible Learning [VL]. He quotes Karl Popper: " Those amongst us unwilling to expose their ideas to the hazard of refutation do not take part in the scientific game" (p4). Compared with the cla...
