37. Coverack to Helford – Walking the Coast of Great Britain

https://walkingthecoastofgreatbritain.com/2014/10/12/37-coverack-to-helford-passage/comment-page-1

Walking the Coast of Great Britain. 37 Coverack to Helford. The Lizard is not that well served by public transport so I load my moped into the Doblo van. The first port of call was Helford where I dropped the moped off. It was free to park my moped here. I then drove to Coverack, I also found free parking for the Doblo as well in a small local car park with sweeping views up the Lizard coast. Sign at Porthallow or Pr’alla. The village of Porthallow or Pr’alla. Damaged road at Gillan Creek. Enter your com...

150. Bowness-on-Solway to Gretna – Walking the Coast of Great Britain

https://walkingthecoastofgreatbritain.com/2016/12/10/150-bowness-on-solway-to-gretna

Walking the Coast of Great Britain. 150 Bowness-on-Solway to Gretna. Mosaic at start of Hardian Wall Path – Bowness. Inscription at start of Path. I walk down a short alleyway to an area known as The Banks, this marks the start/end of the Path as well as the Wall itself. A number of information boards are contained in a small wooden arch building with a lovely mosaic floor depicting wading birds and the words Ave Maia meaning Hail Maia, the name of the fort Bowness was built on. At last reaching Scotland!

owdjockey – Walking the Coast of Great Britain

https://walkingthecoastofgreatbritain.com/author/owdjockey

Walking the Coast of Great Britain. 154 Ardtaraig to Auchenbreck. This section required some thought and planning due to: one, the absence of any footpath for the first 4 miles along the shore of Loch Striven; two, the infrequent bus service from my end destination and three, coordinating the start of the walk at low tide or as near to it as possible. Essentially, this walk took in one of the many promontories that jut out into the Forth of Clyde, collectively giving rise to the Clyde Sea Lochs. Footnote...

August 2016 – Walking the Coast of Great Britain

https://walkingthecoastofgreatbritain.com/2016/08

Walking the Coast of Great Britain. 131 Ballantrae to Girvan. Today was going to be a shortish walk, which was a relief after two tough days walking in strong sunshine. I deliberated the pros and cons of parking in Ballantrae then begin walking to Girvan to get the bus back. Or driving to Girvan, wait for the bus to Ballantrae the walk back to Girvan. I opted to park in Ballantrae and start walking, aiming for the 12:30 bus from Girvan. Looking towards Bennane Head from the beach at Ballantrae. In Lendal...

September 2016 – Walking the Coast of Great Britain

https://walkingthecoastofgreatbritain.com/2016/09

Walking the Coast of Great Britain. 137 Isle of Walney. It was back to Barrow today to do a complete circuit, well almost complete circuit of The Isle of Walney. This low-lying island with a population of 10,600 is adjacent to Barrow in Furness but separated by The Walney Channel and connected by The Jubilee Bridge. Crepuscular Rays over Piel Island. No way – Thank you very much! Walking along the beach wasquite easy, particularly if you found the right sand/gravel mixture which gave little give with eac...

Walking the cat | Life in Suburbia (Let's take a ride and walk with the cats tonight)

Life in Suburbia (Let's take a ride and walk with the cats tonight). It has taken almost two years since this post. Not quite in our neighbourhood but on a motorbike outing the other day (and still within city limits), we saw a deer happily munching on some leaves before gracefully bounding off. Plus, the husband has packed our diving boxes and we will be off bothering some fish in a new-to-us lake the weekend after next. Hungry birds. The tits. Will just have to share. I spotted the first butterfly of t...

Walking The Circle Home » on the path, gone walkabout

Walking The Circle Home. On the path, gone walkabout. October 14th, 2008 by admin. Here’s an interesting challenge: find actions, thoughts and feelings today where you can apply the 80/20 rule. My favorite way of applying this right now is to be less critical. Here’s how that works for me. When I have a negative thought, I stop and apply the 80/20 rule. More about that…. From Wikipedia http:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto principle. Business management thinker Joseph M. Juran. Posted in 80/20 rule. The de...

Walking the Coast of Great Britain – with Alan Palin

Walking the Coast of Great Britain. 152 Lochgoilhead to Dunoon. Todays walk was to be predominantly along roads, off-road footpaths and forest tracks keeping to the lochside for virtually all of the route. My plan was to get to at least Ardentinny, when I would then have the choice of completing the journey back to Dunoon by bus. In the end I made it all the way to Dunoon on foot, even if it did mean finishing in the dark. Looking north up Loch Goil to Ben Donich. Submarine in tow up Loch Long. Church&#4...

The Crooked Path

Life Rarely a straight path from beginning to end. Herein find snippets from my walk along its (hopefully long) crooked path. Thursday, November 11, 2010. I've been lost. Well, not lost. Silent. Here in bloggy world. For the past couple months I've just found it easier to check in to FB and read, with occasional comments than to post on my blog. I don't have a lap top. I don't use my cell phone for anythingmore than phoning, but I am getting entering the world of texting. Finally. Friday, August 20, 2010.
