Saturday, 25 January 2014. Toro Powermax HD 1028 OXE Snowblower Test / Review. First of all I would like to say a thank you to those who have been following my blog. I am not the most prolific blogger but I am trying to make up for that by writing things worth reading. Now lets get on with the topic today; Snow blowers. This snow blower has a long list of extra features one could be forgiven for classifying as hype. Quick control joystick chute. Power max anti clogging system. This makes it very easy to ...

Sunday, 8 April 2012. Emco Maximat V10 Rebuild / Repair / Refurb. It had been badly treated however the ways were straight and did not seem worn. The gib strips were not worn either and so it seemed like the fundamental things were ok. I set to work cleaning and painting the table, then did a primary clean on the lathe and after the initial clean, it still looked like this:. The new collar is made from steel rather than cast iron so it should never break again. The last thing you want is to assemble the ...

Tuesday, 4 December 2012. Goodbye Emco, Hello Colchester. I ended up selling my Maximat V10 which I refurbished so I was latheless. I was on holidays in Australia when I found a Colchester Chipmaster in Sweden. This to me was one of the "holy grail" lathes. The list of lathes I was looking for were:. Finally in the Garage. After moving the lathe in, I need to do a re-shuffle of the garage. I have gotten things fairly well sorted out now. I have not taken the lathe off the pallet yet though since ...I am ...

Tuesday, 16 October 2012. Jungner VF-600 Milling Machine. The search began 10 years ago. As most are probably aware, I like older, manual type machines. I have a soft spot for European machines likely brought on by the rarity of them in my native Australia. I had been on the hunt for about 10 years for a small milling machine and initially was looking at the little Emco FB-2:. The Jungner VF-600 Milling machine. Thank God for good friends. The head can be tilted, raised and lowered via these hand cranks.

Sunday, 17 August 2014. Stenbergs KLE Kombimaskin - combination machine. I have really been struggling with space in my little workshop. It's 32.5 square meters and it contains a metal and woodworking shop. I have only recently bought all the machines I thought I would need to have a fairly complete general purpose woodworking shop and discovered I had little room to work:. I had to go back and reconsider my options. Planer and thicknesser (or jointer thicknesser). Stenbergs KLE as a viable option. This ...

Bushcraft, camping, tinkering, carving, whittling, forging, and whatever else I feel like trying! Saturday, November 16, 2013. I'm meeting with the owner of this awesome Homestead museum sometime this week to see about volunteering and possibly working in his blacksmith shop! If all else fails I'll get to do a little historic preservation work, something I've always been interested in. Http:/ www.ohiofarmmuseum.com/. On a sadder note, I had a 200 year old Mousehole anvil slip through my fingers last week.

I made him a growth chart for his 1st Birthday. 6' by 10" poplar. At first I used my table saw to rip this angle into the face all the way down, to mimic a ruler, but i was unhappy with it and cut it off. Marking out the inch and foot marks. Bushcraft, camping, tinkering, carving, whittling, forging, and whatever else I feel like trying! Monday, December 30, 2013. With all the Holiday time off I finally got to spend some time in the workshop! Beautiful slabs of cherry that I picked up at an estate sale. Decided to make a small bench for my brother for Christmas. Figured I would mortise and tenon on some rustic legs made from branches. Here I began chiseling. New plan, drill out some 1-1/2" round mortises. Here is leg #1. We're on track again.

I eventually removed the old scales, and drilled a new hole for the front pin. Some new stuff around the shop. Another new addition, small Craftsman ...
