Wandering Weirs

Friday, January 14, 2011. The doggy who does lunch. Cooler weather in Hong Kong and a free Saturday today waiting for Dad to get back from Thailand. I took the kids and Jasper on a country walk. We drove up to one of the peak areas (Parkview) then walked down the hill past the Tai Tam reservoirs towards the South side of the Island. We had a great walk, just over an hour then arrived in Stanley for some lunch by the harbour- blue skies , glistening water- simply superb. Saturday, January 1, 2011. After w...

http://www.wanderingweirs.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 6, 2009. And a few more. East Asian Games.Go Tigers! It has been a crazy busy few weeks and so I am skipping a WHOLE lot of news and jumping to this weekend. Our 3 boys played warm up exhibition matches both yesterday and today at the East Asian Games which were held in HK this weekend. We were tremendously proud of how they played , just half way through their first season and they coped well with being in the big stadium. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). And a few more.

Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Our darling Maddie is home safe! She had an amazing trip in Turkey and we struggled through the week without her . She said the highlight was the ANZAC experience and I am sure we will hear more details in the days to come. She L.O.V.E.D Turkey and already is talking about going back to see more. We are so proud of her that she coped so well with the week away. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Wandering Weirs: November 2009

http://www.wanderingweirs.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 8, 2009. We had good cause to celebrate today. Mark graduated his MBA from Macquarie University in the Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt Hotel in HK. Due to ticketing limitations only Maddie and I were able to attend, and then the whole gang including the boys went out to lunch afterwards to help celebrate. Mark not only received his very special MBA but was further awarded the HKMA (Hong Kong Management Association) award for best performance overall in the MBA program!

Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Another short train ride finds us in Florence. In the afternoon we took a horse-drawn carriage ride through the old cobble-stone streets of the ancient city centre. Madison, Callum and I decide to climb the 568 steps into the Dome of the Duomo and are rewarded with wonderful views over the terracotta roof-scape of Florence as we watch the sun set on our second day in Florence. Tomorrow we will find out the "down-side" of the magical Florence snow day! For reasons I am still ...

Wandering Weirs: February 2009

http://www.wanderingweirs.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 27, 2009. This section of the Great Wall  is very beautiful . I have tried to concentrate my pages on the photos rather than the journalling but the beauty and scale of the whole experience is indeed difficult to capture and convey. We are so blessed to get to travel to these amazing places with our young family. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Here is one of my pages. Wednesday, February 18, 2009. OK , it's subtle, can you see the change? I am sure Mum and Dad will see the difference from...

Odila's Flashes & Snapshots: Looking towards and looking from - a photo exercise

http://odilabraga.blogspot.com/2012/04/looking-towards-and-looking-from.html

Odilas Flashes and Snapshots. Wednesday, 18 April 2012. Looking towards and looking from - a photo exercise. The other day, Joel and I went with our good friend Pam to the top of a building right in the middle of Avenida Balboa (a boulevard in town right by the sea). We went there at the end of the afternoon, trying to get good shoots of the sun set. Unfortunately the sun set per say, did not happen, but we were able to take some photos. Looking from the window. Looking towards the window. De Mãe para Mãe.

http://odilabraga.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Odilas Flashes and Snapshots. Saturday, 21 August 2010. A great time in Brazil. Hello everybody, hope you are all doing well and thank you very much for stopping by. It's has been a long time since I last sent you news and I apologize for that. It so happened that I looked at my diary and realized I had time to pay a good visit to Brazil, where I could hug, kiss and spend time with loved ones, so off I went. Joel had to be there on business, so it was all together very good timing. And my brother Kalico.

http://odilabraga.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Odilas Flashes and Snapshots. Friday, 25 June 2010. Tha face of full satisfaction 30 years on the make! So, what does a face expressing full satisfaction look like? I have no idea to be frank with you! Is it a face that brings an air of exhaustion for the time it took to reach full satisfaction? Is it a face that looks busily excited? Is it a face that looks bored because full satisfaction was achieved therefore the person is now bored? The weather has been very kind and it rains only when I am. Pyramid ...

Two years ago 4 very good friends met in Mumbai, India for a wedding and followed on travelling for a magical week around Rajasthan. Mohamed was waiting for us with a nice smile and drove us to our beautiful Riad Aladdin, a really cozy hotel with very charming atmosphere and great people. Odilas Flashes and Snapshots. Sunday, 12 December 2010. Needless to say that Joel hadn't finish his sentence and I had my bags packed. Planning was all very quick but in a way ok, because my reason for going was really to be there for Thanksgiving, to hug and kiss old friends and re-see HK, this place that we have called Home for almost a decade. All these thoughts came to an end when the Captain broke the silence on board announcing our descend into HK, the weather was hazy (tell me something new! Dim S...

Wandering Weeds, Tales of Rabid Vegetation

Weird tales of rabid, feral, and downright ornery tumbleweeds. Wednesday, December 5, 2012. They roll in from unknown places, mysterious and unexplained. They take root, take over, spread to all corners and refuse to be eradicated. no one can say why they came, but there's no arguing that they're up to no good. These plants are out for blood, and getting rid of them will take a certain kind of hero - the best kind. Scary or silly, wicked or wily, these plants are here to stay. And Starting Monday, Dec 10.

The Wandering Weekenders - Exploring The World One Weekend At A Time

A NYC Food Tour of Chelsea Market. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, then you definitely know how much Chris and I love to eat and how much we love to experience food in the cities that we visit. One of the best ways to experience a city is through its food, and a great way to taste a wide variety of foods that a city has to offer is through a food tour. We were on the 10:00 tour, and after an early morning of exploring the city, we were very excited and hungry and ready for our tour to start!

Saturday, January 7, 2017. Week in Review: Jan 1-7. We welcomed 2017 at Teriya Bugu, a rustic hotel several hours from here. We returned home to Koutiala on Monday, but I don't have any pictures from the rest of the week! We also celebrated Ian's 17th birthday this week, but we didn't take any pictures that day. The swimming pool was where we spent most of our time- or at least around the swimming pool. It was a little cold for me! Isabelle going down the slide. Loading the canoe to go across the river.

Just a little journal of the little jaunts of our little family. March 20, 2015. House addition Part 3 WALLS and CEMENT. So it is actually starting to look like livable space and they finally had to break through into our house so we feel like we are living in a construction zone, everything is covered in dust and needs to be repainted and now I am really anxious to get it all done. They poured a sidewalk all the way around the addition, and a slab in the back for the hot tub (in the future). I just love...
