Water Music

Saturday, April 05, 2008. We have been lucky with the weather this year in the Exuma Islands of the Bahamas. There have been more mild days than last year, thus more swimming and beach walking on the windward side of the islands and cays. We share these photos so you can enjoy a bit of what we have been able to experience. Posted by Water Music @ 3:14 PM. Oxford, Maryland, United States. Return to the latest posting. Water Music: August 2007

http://www.watermusic1999.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 11, 2007. The dramatic Perth City skyline. The War Memorial in Kings Park overlooking the Swan River. Looking out over the Indian Ocean from our friend’s apartment. A flock of Galah’s settle in the branches of a Norfolk Pine. The Galah is a native species and one of many parrots and cockatoos seen around suburban Perth. Many of Perth’s city beaches are patrolled 365 days a year. It’s winter in Perth at the moment, when a series of strong cold fronts bring most of the annual rainfall.

Water Music: September 2006

Saturday, September 30, 2006. We are now on our way South from Maine. A foggy morning in Tenants Harbor, Maine. Cold and damp, but it has a special beauty of it's own. The fog begins to clear in the harbor but you can see the bank of fog in the distance, offshore. As the wind changes direction and blows off the cold water the fog rolls in once more. A typical inland waterway near Tenants Creek. Glacial moraines have sealed off the connection to the sea. Approaching downtown Boston and our reserved mooring.

Water Music: The Everglades, Florida

http://www.watermusic1999.blogspot.com/2008/01/everglades-florida.html

Tuesday, January 08, 2008. The Everglades, Florida. Contrary to most people’s preconceptions, The Everglades is not simply a vast swamp but a subtle array of habitats often determined by only inches of elevation change. Today this whole area of southern Florida is protected as The Everglades National Park and The Big Cypress National Reserve. Nowhere is the elevation more than 8ft above sea level and large areas are covered with Sawgrass and dwarf Bald Cypress, a conifer that loses its needles in winter.

Wednesday, October 17, 2007. Virginia and the shores of the southern Chesapeake, are rich in American history and military tradition. Visitors have the choice of walking over many of the critical battles sites of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars or experience the past through the exhibits of several excellent museums. Our friends Val and Dennis joined us onboard for this segment of our travels where we also vastly improved our knowledge of California Zinfandels thanks to Dennis. At the final defeat ...

View from our hotel window in Zakynthos overlooking Affinity tied up to the town pier. Zakynthos main square on a hot, sunny, Sunday afternoon. Overlooking the bay of Porto Vromi from the main road. Boats tied up in the clear water of Porto Vromi. Do you recognise the umbrella on the beach? Sitting on the beach, Porto Vromi. A good spot to stop for a cup of coffee.
