Living and Loving and Laughing with SPD. God has a plan for all of us. His plan for me I believe is to be the wife, a keeper of the home. Also a mother of two miracle babies. Last but not least a homeschooling mother. I think I have my purpose. Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Sunshine Award very appreciated. While checking my blog this morning, I found a delightful comment. Someone acknowledging that I am trying to help others, that is my goal! Thank you Martianne for this honor and your kind words! Pass the aw...

Our Nature Study: Outdoor Challenge #15
http://texasnaturestudy.blogspot.com/2008/06/outdoor-challenge-15.html
Monday, June 9, 2008. We were traveling the Friday that we would have normally done the Outdoor Hour Challenge #15. Nature study helps the miles go by! We id'd our trees that we saw on the way.Loblolly pines and Southern Magnolia were the ones we saw the most frequently. We counted Egrets that we saw under the Basin Bridge portion of 1-10.37. We realized that yellow Daylillies are a favorite at roadside parks because they were at every single one that we stopped at from Texas to Florida. The butterfly ga...

We reviewed the anther and filiment and our new flower part is the stigma which is quite prominant on a Hibiscus. Our plant had flowers in all stages from buds to faded blooms. We also took a good look at our Huisache-Daisy and were able to see them in all stages as well. Sam watched the video from Green Hour #14. This was the simplest flower press to make! He could do it all by himself!

Our Nature Study: February 2008

Friday, February 29, 2008. Why do pupils dislike writing English exercises? Simply because they are not interested in the subject they are asked to write about, and they know that the teacher is not interested in the information contained in the essay. But when they are interested in the subject and write about it to a person who is interested, the conditions are entirely changed.". Handbook of Nature Study pg.16. May I always remember to help them find their interest before requiring them to write.

Our Nature Study: March 2008
http://texasnaturestudy.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 28, 2008. We did not have a Green Hour we had a Green Week! We have inspected, dissected, poked, prodded, virtually every wildflower, tree, insect, and bird in our backyard. Big Sis' joined in much of the adventure and has been crowned "Butterfly Catcher Extraordinaire"! In an attempt to try to keep our focus on our trees we have started playing games with our trees. "Race you to the ( name , characteristic, etc)" is a favorite with Sam. I have also started a nature blog. This particular ba...

Our Nature Study: Outdoor Challenge #13

Friday, May 9, 2008. We wanted to take a closer look at our Stargazer Lily but there were no blooms. Sam found perhaps the saddest looking trumpet lily in a much neglected. Part of our yard- I had quite forgotten that it existed. We laminated the front and back of one card with the parts of the flower from Barb- Harmony Art Mom's Green Hour Challenge #13. The second card has our Stargazer Lily on one side and our Trumpet Lily on the other. I wanted to ID the anther and filament since they so prominent.

Friday, June 20, 2008. Outdoor Challenges #16 and 17. We've been enjoying a little break from planned activities but now we are trying to get back into the swing of things with Outdoor Challenge #16. I did not plan to do Outdoor Challenge #17. I have faith that your sunflowers will grow and bloom.they are pretty hardy things and I think that they grow faster when it is hotter anyway. My sunflowers this week alone have grown a ton so I *know* yours will too. (positive thinking at its best).

Friday, April 25, 2008. Outdoor Challenge #10 and #11. Green Hour Challenge #10. Asked us to have an outdoor picnic. My kids thought I'd lost it when I took this picture of them eating today. We eat outdoors several times a week most of the year-although usually not junk food like today! Big Sis' joined us for a hike after lunch. We were able to climb the bike trails which is far more exciting then walking the flat walking paths. Sam calls this off-roading and it is one of his favorite activities. We did...
