weave4fun: July 2013

http://weave4fun.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Because I can, so I do. Wouldn't You? Wednesday, 31 July 2013. Test - please ignore. Links to this post. Friday, 12 July 2013. Hochdorf Two Hole Tablet Weaving. So, I saw a picture of a Hochdorf band woven by a member of the Historic Tablet Weaving group on Facebook. It looks like you can get more detailed patterning with this technique and you also get a nice sort of pebbled effect in the background weave. Anyway, so I googled it and found this webpage The Warp Factor. This explains what I mean by S and...

weave4fun: February 2015

http://weave4fun.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Because I can, so I do. Wouldn't You? Monday, 23 February 2015. The first really proper thing I've woven since graduation. So, this is largely Roslyn's idea. She had the idea of doing a kind of stepped-backwards grade in blocks on a dogtooth weave. As it goes, I misunderstood her and when she said dogstooth I heard herringbone, which is kinda odd, but it's still a twill I guess, so it works. I should add I got the yarn from Weavers Bazaar. That's me being all professional and that. Good, eh? Also, I dinn...

weave4fun: August 2013

http://weave4fun.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Because I can, so I do. Wouldn't You? Tuesday, 13 August 2013. Transitional phase is beginning. So I sold the Dryad loom yesterday. It is gone out the door and shall not return. I also took back all the yarn I'm not absolutely certain I want back to the college because most of it came from there anyway. I retain a small amount of wool and silk and stainless steel yarn too. I have work now, at House of Cheviot in Hawick, a manufacturer of fine country socks and kilt hose which promises to take up most of ...

weave4fun: October 2014

http://weave4fun.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Because I can, so I do. Wouldn't You? Sunday, 19 October 2014. New workshop and rigid heddle loom. Well, we had a brief discussion the other week/month (time flies) about making tablet weaving accessories. Anyway, I moved my tools in today and made a very simple and rough rigid-heddle loom for a friend. A very simple counterbalance set up for now anyway, probably with an underslung beater. Desk with tools on. Plyboard marked out and ready to cut. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

WEAVING FOR FUN: December 2014

http://weavingforfun.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 29, 2014. I have finished up the red and white dimity striped towels. They sure wove up fast. But then again, I was only using one shuttle and five treadles for the pattern. With this threading, I was not able to get a true plain weave, but I was able to get one that worked. Now on to the washer and dryer to see how the pattern really looks. Friday, December 26, 2014. Strips the Light Fantastic. All red weft. (top). All white weft. (bottom). Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Strips To You Too.

Friday, 31 May 2013. Heriot Watt University Degree Show, Galashiels. I haven't been posting recently as I've been trying to have a break since finishing second year, but been busy with my part time job and preparing to move house. again. Monday 27th May I visited the Hariot Watt University's Textiles Degree Show in Galashiels. Below are some images of students work I like, and some links to students. It was great to see another Degree Show before CCAD's opens on Thursday 6th June. Links to this post.

WEAVING FOR FUN: July 2015

http://weavingforfun.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Nothing like a guild meeting to get the juices flowing again. I had missed the last couple of meeting and was glad to see my weaving friends. The show-and-tell and visiting hit the spot. I gave the program on C. Larry shared with us some towels he wove. Larry does such wonderful work. These might be for a sister, so don't tell! Dawn and her towels. She didn't get them hemmed in time for the meeting, but we are glad she brought them to share anyway! A labor of love! Monday, July ...

WEAVING FOR FUN: Playing with Summer and Winter

http://weavingforfun.blogspot.com/2015/07/playing-with-summer-and-winter.html

Saturday, July 18, 2015. Playing with Summer and Winter. I am working with single two-tie (summer and winter). This example is using the 1-2-2-1 tie-down order (with tabby). I love the little circles! This is a draft that was originally an overshot on four shafts that I turned into a six shaft summer and winter draft. I know how to do this, but I let my weaving software do it for me. Soooo much faster and less chance of mistakes. I use WeaveIt Pro. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Just A Bit About Me.

WEAVING FOR FUN: August 2015

http://weavingforfun.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 31, 2015. Did You Say More Shibori? Yes, I said more Shibori! My two children had purple and green, but that was years ago! Saturday, August 29, 2015. I have finished one of the woven Shibori pieces. It didn't come out as I had hoped, but is still kinda nice. The drape of this 12/2 rayon (warp and weft) is very nice and will make some great scarves. But right now, I am trying to work on the dyeing process. The weaving of the shibori I get. the dying.not so much. Friday, August 28, 2015.

WEAVING FOR FUN: Sampling Single Two-Tie

http://weavingforfun.blogspot.com/2015/07/sampling-single-two-tie.html

Monday, July 27, 2015. Sampling single two-tie (known as summer and winter in some circles). I have some S&W Polychrome and Taquete going on here. I am limited on my colors as I am just using from my stash! I plan on messing around with this for a while. It is a long warp. Hi Ann - are there any references you especially recommend for S&W? Im interested in exploring it one of these days. I recently got the Best of Weavers S&W, but am always looking for other source material. July 28, 2015 at 11:48 AM.

WEAVING FOR FUN: November 2014

http://weavingforfun.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, November 29, 2014. A sneak peek of my next project HUCK LACE. Don't know when I will put it on the loom. I found the draft on interweave . com. some are free, some not. A fun place to check out. I have used my 'sticks' instead of the regular chain. Works for me. Friday, November 21, 2014. Looks like it might be time for this guy to show up. But, first.how about just cold-rainy-and Turkey? We can wait for our 10 inches of snow here in Missouri! Still knitting on a few gifts.). 1 It had me put ev...

WEAVING FOR FUN: September 2014

http://weavingforfun.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 28, 2014. Wagon Wheels Moving On. I have come to the end of this warp. It is threaded to the pattern "Wagon Wheels" from "The. Weaving Book of Peace and Patience. This is showing the Double Compass Work the Handsome Way while it is still on the loom. Notice the diagonal line is not there. Now it is off the loom and this is what the non-public (back) side looks like. Or I might make this the public side! Labels: just for fun. Saturday, September 27, 2014. 65279;.
