The commoner plants in these grasslands include mat-grass, common bent, heath bedstraw, sheep’s fescue and tormentil. Marshes and Flushes - Wharfedale Naturalists Society. Limestone pavements and cliffs. Bird List 1946 – 2003. Bird’s-eye primrose and butterwort near Grassington. Where soils are normally wet, they can develop either as marshes, on flatter ground, or flushes, where the ground slopes. Marshy grasslands are very similar to other types of grassland and wetland but occur in wet hollows and next to streams and do have typical wetland herbs, unlike acidic and neutral grasslands which usually are species-poor.

Wednesday, 18 March 2015. I took a trip to Whitby at the weekend, i've only passed through before. My husband and daughter have never been at all so it was a fun new place to explore. It was also the first time out properly with my new camera which i'm still getting to grips with. Taking a walk along the east pier just about froze our ears off but there's always something about being by the sea that makes me not care so much about the cold! We spotted Fulmars up on the cliffs. Tuesday, 4 August 2015. I don't visit here enough despite it being fairly close by. This visit is early April, Easter Monday. Of course in April the trees are still mostly bare with a little growth just starting to show. It's a haven for birds, we saw a Buzzard overhead and in the trees Greenfinch, Magpies, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Robins, Long Tailed Tits.
