What I Cooked Last Night

Wednesday, September 15, 2010. End of the line. Just over four years ago I was sitting in a pub called the Goat Major in Cardiff with my pal Matt Withers and we started our usual debate about the Internet. I was coming out with my usual mantra that it would be "Just a passing phase" while he was insisting the World Wide Web was here to stay and I had better get used to it. There was creative thinking, like how to make an entire Sunday Lunch out of different flavoured crisps, homespun philosophy from With...

What I Cooked Last Night: February 2010

http://whaticookedlastnight.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 24, 2010. SO at last I have a replacement Bas. The poor old Corsa is still sitting outside getting rustier and rustier as the insurance company dally over how much my heartache and inconvenience is worth. Meanwhile, Mrs Rippers was just getting a teensy bit fed up with being. Car because of my regular journeys up to the smoke in her little Micra Millie. I must admit when I first saw the envelope I envisaged having my world turned upside down and my bank accounts frozen, running for my...

What I Cooked Last Night: May 2010

http://whaticookedlastnight.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 27, 2010. THERE are moments during your motoring life when you feel a bit like John Cleese in Fawlty Towers or Clockwise. I managed to combine the two on Saturday in a hectic morning that wasn't ideal preparation for the biggest day of the Welsh sporting calendar - Cardiff City in the Championship play-off final against Blackpool at Wembley. Having done this, I set off nice and early. Then came the dilemma. Do I drive on, find a garage, and just hope they have a cap to fit a Renault? My thi...

What I Cooked Last Night: Gastro delight

http://whaticookedlastnight.blogspot.com/2010/08/gastro-delight.html

Friday, August 27, 2010. Mrs Rippers and I found Gastro Heaven nestled in the middle of the Cotswolds last weekend. As part of the extended Mrs R 40th birthday celebrations I planned a little trip 30 miles up the road to Tetbury. First of all we visited Lacock, the olde worlde Wiltshire village where Cranford is filmed, and managed to avoid being stung by the hundreds of wasps who had also decided it would be a good place to spend the day. Their specialty is pizza, and I tucked into a bacon, chorizo, fre...

What I Cooked Last Night: Tiffin for two

http://whaticookedlastnight.blogspot.com/2010/09/tiffin-for-two.html

Friday, September 10, 2010. My love affair with clotted cream has been re-ignited over the last few weeks, what with our visit to Wiltshire and then a little trip down to Cornwall. But it is interesting to see the difference between the value and price of cream teas in parts of the West Country. The much-travelled Critch got in on the act and it was established that Devon puts the cream on first, then the jam. Cornwall does it the other way around. I don't really think there is a hard and fast rule.

Joe's Music Garage - The Struts

http://www.joesmusicgarage.com/the-struts

Sometime in 1976 in a garage somewhere near Bristol 4 kids with a passion for the new 'punk' music started playing together. Influenced by The Sex Pistols, Eddie and the Hot Rods and The Adverts they soon developed a style with their own songs. The band played a dozen or so gigs in the Bristol area before splitting in 1978. But we were young and did'nt know what we had. Thankfully some recordings survive to relive those days . Anyone got any photos? Http:/ whaticookedlastnight.blogspot.com/. Like all ban...

What I cooked last night... | Recipes I've cooked and loved recently

What I cooked last night…. Recipes I've cooked and loved recently. Pasta and bean soup (Pasta e fagioli). August 11, 2011. Economy Gastronomy has some great recipes and this is such a healthy delcious soup/stew, perfect for warming up on these chilly days. You can vary the vegetables depending on what’s in the fridge, and could add some pancetta or streaky bacon if you need more protein. I used fennel, carrot, leek and celery and borlotti beans which was delicious. 1 onion, peeled, chopped. Add all of th...

What I Cook For Richard

Http:/ www.whaticookforrichard.com. What I Cook For Richard. Posted on November 8, 2012. I really love holiday colored food, and I always have to pick up a package of colored M&Ms just for funzies. And yes, I know it’s still the beginning of November and I have Christmas colored candy. Hey, at least I don’t have my Christmas tree up just yet (that’ll happen next week hehe). Richard had a dentist appointment and what better way to celebrate a good check up than with cookies, right? Here’s the recipe-.
