So I took a little vacation from my year-long vacation and from blogging. Here's how I finished out the year. (I left out the doctor's appointments which aren't over yet, but just check-ups and tests….boring stuff). I have been enjoying my sunrises at the campground in McIntosh, FL. A little Christmas decorating, lol.

Hosmer Lake, Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, Oregon. Only paddles and fish jumping break the water's surface at Hosmer Lake. I arrived early with the fly fishermen and a few other paddlers. The air was cool and still. Do you see the ducks? It's a female Ring-necked duck and ducklings. This seems to be the time of year for ducklings here in the mountain lakes.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument is comprised of a labyrinth of several canyons that include two main ones: Canyon de Chelly and Canyon del Muerto. My first day there I drove the north rim which overlooks Canyon del Muerto. This pathway on the rim leads to an overlook. Some colorful desert plants that grow on the rim. The "trail" across the rim.

I stayed in a campground in Payson and visited the Rim Country Museum and Zane Grey cabin. They do a wonderful guided tour of the museum, but they don't allow photos, so you'll just have to come yourself. I mention it because we're going to be hiking in the area where he wrote and on a trail he likely hiked.

I stopped in Huntsville to visit my friends Sarah and Wendy. This is my campsite at Ditto Landing. Ditto Landing on the Tennessee River was a ferry landing in the early 1800s before there was a bridge here. Fall colors still pretty. A gull flying over the Tennessee River. Trace State Park in Mississippi was another of my stops coming east in November. Trace Lake was too low to put the kayak in. The boat ramps were high and dry, and the shoreline was too muddy. Thistle sank to his belly in the mud when he tried to get a drink. There was a hiking trail though. And we checked that out. Great Blue Heron looking for fish.
