I have been joyfully, busily, tremendously enjoying my summer break with my sweet little guy! 3 At a year and a half, our days are filled with endless laughter, chasing, cuddling, and absolute craziness and I wouldn't have it any other way. Travel Brochures and Creative Writing. Friday, July 15, 2016. I'm sure many of you are enjoying your summer break, and you certainly should be! I promise not to bring the back-to-school anxiety in this post, but I wanted to share a quick writing tip you can easily start planning now. And it's stress free! Head Over Heels For Teaching. Saturday, August 29, 2015. Spark Student Motivation: Welcome Back! We had a great first week of school, but I'm exhausted! Saturday, October 25, 2014. 2 Months in One Blog Post :). This school year has been hectic to say the least. Between lesson planning, data analysis, conferences, more data, and lots of weddings, I have seriously slacked on my blog. I don't even know if I have many readers, but here is the past few months of my life. Here are some snippets of activities we've done thus far. My students love scoot. So much that my ELA teacher started incorporating it into her editing process. October was a big wedding mont...

Sparkling in Seventh: Lung Capacity

http://sparklinginseventh.blogspot.com/2014/12/lung-capacity.html

Sunday, December 7, 2014. How much air can your lungs hold? This is what my seventh graders investigated on Thursday. They took a deep breath, and blew that one breath into a balloon, measured the diameter, and used a graph to convert CM to L. They loved it! Here are some pictures of my crazy kids, who posed just for you guys! Blowing up his balloon. He wanted to make a funny face. Finding the diameter of the balloon. I am in the process of uploading this to TPT if you want to do this lab.

Collaboration Connection: How do you Calendar?

http://thecollaborationconnection.blogspot.com/2014/09/how-do-you-calendar.html

Saturday, September 20, 2014. How do you Calendar? I guess I can be considered a veteran teacher at this point in my career—16 years—however, I don’t really like that word. It sounds like I’ve been through combat, when in reality I love what I do. Yes, some years have been harder than others, difficult students, changing standards, but that comes with the territory right? I’m going to be completely honest with you. My Calendar Bulletin Board has always been my bane, my weakness—. What day is it? There wa...

Collaboration Connection: Things I've Learned

http://thecollaborationconnection.blogspot.com/2014/09/things-ive-learned.html

Monday, September 8, 2014. Another week begins, and I'm really excited! Today marks the 5th week of school, and my classroom is starting to run like a well oiled machine. I'm so proud of my kiddos! Today I wanted to share some things that have been working, and some things I have changed from previous years. Hopefully it will give you a glimpse into my classroom. I still love the award/brag tags, but this way they aren't getting lost (and they take up less room on the wall). Behavior, Helpers, and Rules.

Collaboration Connection: April 2014

http://thecollaborationconnection.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 27, 2014. We've been working super hard on our multiplication facts this year, so I took advantage of last month’s March Madness by having our very own Multiplication Madness! It was my first time trying this, so I had looked on Teachers Pay Teachers for something to use, but my needs were so specific that I ended up creating everything on my own. For each round, I played the Jeopardy theme song (I found a clip that plays for an hour on YouTube. And gave students five minutes to complete a ...

Where the wild things never sleep
