Jessica in Japan

Living my life in the land of sushi and tsunamis. Sunday, May 6, 2012. So yesterday I ran my first 10K "race". It was a hot and. Sunny 27 degrees and I nearly died Horatio! But actually I did not die and I did finish. My friend Ashley and I have a history of doing rather unpleasant things together and we categorize this as one of those more unpleasant things. But it was also really rather fun. and after I'd had a cold shower and a good dinner, I began talking about "what's next? So this is me pre-race.

Jessica in Japan: Pancakes and Sake

http://www.whileiwasteaching3.blogspot.com/2012/05/pancakes-and-sake.html

Living my life in the land of sushi and tsunamis. Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Japanese food is pretty great! I have enjoyed almost all of the food I've tried and I do like the fact that I haven't once been sick from it. If you knew me when I lived in Indonesia you know how big a deal this is for me. One of my favourite things to eat in Japan is Okinomaki. aka Japanese pancakes. There is a fantastic place in Tokyo where I'll take you if you come to visit. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Jessica in Japan: Tis the Season of Sakura

Living my life in the land of sushi and tsunamis. Sunday, April 22, 2012. Tis the Season of Sakura. It's been a while and for that I somewhat apologize. Living in Japan is fantastic and I've been thoroughly enjoying life here. I've also been insanely busy but I do want to keep some record of life here and so I'll try to "catch up" a bit and post more often for the next little while. Here I am wearing my "dedicated blogger" glasses. What a geek! The early morning sun poking through the trees. This is ...

Jessica in Japan: Just one teeny mistake..

http://www.whileiwasteaching3.blogspot.com/2011/11/just-one-teeny-mistake.html

Living my life in the land of sushi and tsunamis. Thursday, November 24, 2011. Just one teeny mistake. One of the less lovely things about being a teacher is when it's that special time of year: Parent Teacher Conferences. They can go either way and while generally it's a fairly pleasant experience, they also are known to stress out even the most experienced of teachers. So the day began quite well and seemed to be going rather smoothly. Hadn't we already had a discussion about Tonya and her C? Then two ...

Jessica in Japan: Back to Bali

http://www.whileiwasteaching3.blogspot.com/2012/04/back-to-bali.html

Living my life in the land of sushi and tsunamis. Wednesday, April 25, 2012. I was wondering if I would still like Bali now as much as I did then. I think when I lived in Jakarta I almost needed an escape and so Bali served that function. Now that I live in a cool city and have a fairly "Easy Asia" life. I wasn't sure I'd appreciate it the way I used to in the past. I do love an infinity pool. This one looked over Dreamland Beach. Nothing like a Bali sunset. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Jessica in Japan: A Peek into my Shoebox

http://www.whileiwasteaching3.blogspot.com/2011/12/peek-into-my-shoebox.html

Living my life in the land of sushi and tsunamis. Wednesday, December 28, 2011. A Peek into my Shoebox. Well here is a little look into my little apartment. It's amazing how little space a person actually needs. This goes against my Canadian desire for space space space. But I digress. So here it is! It's tiny but I like it. I don't have a maid anymore and took the photos as I was packing for Canada so um. yeah. excuse the clutter. This is the view from the entrance. My itty bitty kitchen. I am a Canadia...

While I Was Supposed to Be Writing My Dissertation. 8220;Frankly” is the new F bomb…. 8230;and I just dropped that shit in two separate emails. WHILE I WAS TAKING A CRAP. I eat a lot, therefore I sh*t a lot. The story of a red-haired's life through his craps. Enjoy it! Monday, August 15, 2005. Am I the only one who can't digest corn? Today after taking a big-o-crap I turned around to see that "sculpture" lying at the bottom of the toilet, and there it was: the whole can of corn that I mixed with my pasta last night. Is like, WTF? Am I maybe gona die soon and this is just a sign? Took a huge crap @ 4:24 PM 3 comments. Monday, May 09, 2005. Usuall...

This chapter of my life is coming to an end and the next one is up there ahead. While I Was Waiting | notes from a curious waitress

While I Was Waiting. Notes from a curious waitress. May 14, 2013. One afternoon 10 years ago, on a spring day like today, an errand led me to an unfamiliar neighborhood in Oakland. After finishing with business, I wandered the streets and came upon a diner, its name curved in blue paint across a big picture window. Open for breakfast and lunch only, the joint was deserted. Ten years later, the writing is still on the wall. I watch as customers read it, walking along to follow the words that are block...

JON, JEANNE, ADELYN and SCOUT…. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. For the really busy mom. What to do on a “day like this? 8221; This morning at Bible Study a friend handed me a couple little handouts about parenting and being a busy mom. I put them in my binder…. thinking I would read them later. Now was that later… and what perfect timing. The little handout was a sort of “help for busy moms” handout… a wonderful encouragement to me today. Some of my favorites:. 6 Love is patient.
