It was established in 1901 when the federal government opened the Kiowa-Comanche-Apache tribal lands to settlement. This small city is only a few miles from the Wichita Mountains. Hiking, climbing, fishing and water sports activities are only minutes away. There are 13 Public Use Lakes on the Refuge for fishing. You'll find Largemouth bass, sunfish, crappie and catfish.
