Joe's Journey

Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Passage: 1 Corinthians 10. Notes: The overarching principle in relationships in the church is: be considerate of others first, even if you're just not sure of where they stand. Yet: inanimate objects are not inherently evil, and while you may avoid something for the sake of another Christian, you have the freedom to eat/use when there's no danger of offending another's conscience. Mind the negative example of those who have gone before us, and live holy lives. On the other ha...

Joe's Journey: Today's Devotional Thought

http://www.wichitamountains.blogspot.com/2012/09/todays-devotional-thought_13.html

Thursday, September 13, 2012. Notes: Paul writes to obey the authorities. Yet, Jesus does not appear to extend that obedience to the 1000 steps per Sabbath rule the Jews had come up with. Jesus healed the lame man and sent him off - no hard sell evangelism. When he returns, Jesus tells him, "sin no more." Is here further detail for Peter's "made proclamation to the spirits [below]? Joe's Journey: Today's Devotional Thought

http://www.wichitamountains.blogspot.com/2012/09/todays-devotional-thought_17.html

Monday, September 17, 2012. Notes: Have I developed schemas of how I expect God to work, or am I ready to look at His work and receive whatever He chooses to do, and worship Him for it? What began in unbelief turned to accusing God of sin, reviling the one He healed, and generally turning spiritual leadership into a human endeavor to enforce their belief system about God, or be ostracized and excluded from the community. How deceived and evil we can be once we believe we know it all!

Friday, September 21, 2012. Notes: Worshipping Jesus is not the time to be scrappy, but an opportunity to go all out. While we are called to be stewards, offerings to God, and love for another (even another human? Can be extravagant (God won't run out of resources because we loved too much). Do I love the approval of men more than the approval of God? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Logos Bible Study Software.

Joe's Journey: August 2012

Friday, August 31, 2012. Notes: Being the foremost military power in the world is meaningless if God has decided that your reign is over. Babylon fell because of her worship of other gods, and as punishment for her destruction of God's temple and His people. Aren't we also addicted to persistent idolatry in our worship of our possessions and perpetual entertainment? Thursday, August 30, 2012. Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Notes: Human solutions - like Judah's alliance with mighty Egypt - are false securiti...

You never really stop learning. I hope. My opinion on vaccines. I am not anti-vaccine. I am not pro-vaccine. I want people to know the risks of vaccinating and the risks of not vaccinating. And then I want them to be able to CHOOSE what is right for their child or themselves. I do not want the government to force people to vaccinate. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Lifelong Student: Joy and pain.

http://lifelong-student.blogspot.com/2013/07/joy-and-pain.html

You never really stop learning. I hope. Autism can really take the pleasure out of life. Church dinners, eating out, hiking, camping, and more. However, life isn't about pleasure. I am willing to do this. But I am struggling to have the right attitude as I do the right thing. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Lifelong Student: September 2011

http://lifelong-student.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

You never really stop learning. I hope. I did okay. Not spectacular, but good. I worked in the kitchen and the laundry area. I mopped. And mopped. I cleaned counters and did dishes. I cleared off the table of unnecessary items (which chore has to be done regularly at our house). I know that doesn't sound like much, but it took some time. Today I need to spend some extra time preparing for Bible Study tomorrow night, so we'll see if anything else gets done this morning. I've heard of "spring cleaning".

Lifelong Student: March 2011

http://lifelong-student.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

You never really stop learning. I hope. The week got a little crazier as we went. Wednesday night I was wiped out. I got a nice break the next night, however, going on a date with my hubby. Today I'm trying to finish up preparations for a party tonight. I didn't realize how much difference it makes to have a couple hours each day with no kids at home. The house looks pretty terrible today. Thankfully the aforementioned party is not at my house. Enjoy a little peace and quiet on Monday morning. Year-old o...

Love not too well the work of thy hands and the devices of thy heart; and remember that the true hope of the Noldor lieth in the West, and cometh from the sea." -Ulmo in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion. Sunday, January 31, 2010. The last few weeks, our Pastor has been doing a Sunday evening series on meditation (on God's Word). Tonight he discussed different methods various people use to make meditation meaningful to them: journaling. Singing, words of affirmation, etc. It was a good message. A:We love...

Tolkien's The Silmarillion. Thursday, October 14, 2010. In preparation, Joe asked what they would do first when they got home from such a long journey. The answer? Take off our shoes and play! A1 really got into the re-telling:. How was your trip? Mommy: Did you see Solomon? What was he like? So he must be very rich! A1: No we cre...

Tolkien's The Silmarillion. Wednesday, October 27, 2010. I love flying. I love the thrill of take-off, the view of the ground from above, trying to pick out landmarks, the sight of clouds underneath, trying to guess the exact moment when the wheels will touch down. And seat mates are always an adventure. Keep Camp, NM.

Do you get to go to school in your pajamas? Today, in our house the answer is "yes.". It's nice actually. Nice and warm. Keep Camp, NM.

Sailing with Moby Jane. Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Kelly Hanson Sails Marine Complaint! Will Never do Business With This Company Again. When I was a Young Boy living in Holland, a young sailor asked my sister and I if we would like to go sailing. We, of course, said yes. the memories of that wonderful sailing adventure stayed with me for more than 50 years. When I neared the age of 60 I looked back on my life and I realized one of my unfulfilled dreams was to own my own sailboat. On July 8th 2011 I rece...
