My life, my craft.in my words. Tuesday, 30 September 2008. Apologies for the quietness of the blog recently. Even when I’ve posted my heart hasn’t been in it. I think I’m going to take a little break…a few weeks or so. SO….I hope everyone enjoys the next few weeks and I will be back soon, bright, shiny and raring to blog again! Links to this post. Tuesday, 23 September 2008. Sunday was an early start, we borrowed a Ute and a trailer and headed up towards Bendigo. The day was sunny, the sky blue and w...

wideblueyarn: Seedlings

http://wideblueyarn.blogspot.com/2008/09/seedlings.html

My life, my craft.in my words. Friday, 19 September 2008. Wow it's been a week of garden posts huh! Well it's what I'm doing at the moment I guess and I am rather excited by the fact that I have my first seedlings (that I have sown) of the season. Blurry but growing and I can see movement in a few other pots so by next week everything should be bursting with life. Store bought seedlings are coming along nicely too. And my rhubarb looks equally as happy to be here. 22 September 2008 at 12:49 am. Some thin...

wideblueyarn: Some things I have learnt recently.

http://wideblueyarn.blogspot.com/2008/08/some-things-i-have-learnt-recently.html

My life, my craft.in my words. Tuesday, 9 September 2008. Some things I have learnt recently. 10 things I have learnt while moving back in to our house. 10 Nothing you order and want in a hurry will come in within the promised week. 9 There will always be somewhere you forget to clean. 8 It is best not to touch things that aren't broken (like the pressure valve on the boiler) in case they suddenly break. (ahem). 7 Cutlery multiplies the same way socks disappear. 6 Baking soda cleans just about everything.

wideblueyarn: Hay Ewe!

http://wideblueyarn.blogspot.com/2008/09/hay-ewe.html

My life, my craft.in my words. Tuesday, 23 September 2008. In addition to improving the quality of the soil in our garden we had decided we needed some mulch as well. Preferably straw which is light, insulating and can be dug in to the soil as it composts down. After an exhaustive and fruitless search of the Internet ebay produced results and for a nominal amount and a bit of a drive the straw bales would be ours. On the way back some cows were very interested in our trailer load! The long road home.

wideblueyarn: August 2008

http://wideblueyarn.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

My life, my craft.in my words. Friday, 29 August 2008. Just your average weekend. The weekend is upon us and I can’t believe how excited I am to have two whole days of nothingness. Of course I’ll be filling the nothingness with a whole mess of stuff. Remember I have a gazillion. And ninety boxes to unpack, plus the garden needs to be stared at harshly in the hope it will fix itself, the bathroom needs a good talking to about its personal odour and there are muffins to be baked! Links to this post. I'm bu...

wideblueyarn: Surprise Socks!

http://wideblueyarn.blogspot.com/2008/08/my-first-pair.html

My life, my craft.in my words. Tuesday, 16 September 2008. I was very grown up a month or so ago and went through all my WIP's reclassifying some of them as "on hold" and some of them "No, never, what was I thinking". I even restrained myself from starting others I knew I didn't have the time for, what with the billion and ninety boxes I need to unpack etc. I didn't mean to, I sorta didn't want to.but I did it anyway. Socks are small right! I love the colour,. I love that I finished two of them with litt...

Wide Blue World: Finds

Thursday, August 13, 2015. As I've unpacked my boxes from storage, some of which I've been apart from for over a year, I've found some wonderful things: a pretty shoulder bag I've never used, my favorite winter scarves, reliable kitchen tools. I bought my sprouting jar a hundred years ago (ok, maybe fifteen), that summer I worked at Bryce Canyon. I don't guess I've ever used it as much since. I remember going hiking and taking sandwiches dressed with sprouts: egg salad, hummus, cheese. This is a story of...

Wide Blue World: Saga

Friday, August 14, 2015. We are made of stars and it's only right that we reclaim our heritage and spend time among them. Featuring Gene Autry's version of Deep in the Heart of Texas and a wonderful song by Guy Clark called The Dark, covered here by Terri Hendrix. It's so dark you can smell the moon. Wide Blue World: The Movement

Sunday, August 9, 2015. Friday, July 31, 2015. Slim Witness: Required Reading. Last week I met a man who devotes his time and energy to fighting nuclear power. I shared with him about the book Folding Paper Cranes. Today I have finished reading Between the World and Me. Or read Charles Blow’s column. In the New York Times where somehow he has the fortitude to keep telling the stories as one after another of our fellow humans succumbs to the unwritten American rule that Black bodies are expendable. Early ...

Wide Blue World

Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Welcome to the silly, comforting blog,. To paraphrase Mary Oliver. And we all should, regularly. The blog is not the world. It isn't even the first page of the world. But the blog wants to flower, like a flower. It knows that much. It wants to open itself,. Like the door of a little temple,. So that you might step inside and be cooled and refreshed,. And less yourself than part of everything. Find the real poem in all its glory and inspiration here. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
