Wide Blue World: Dispatches: The Road to Podcasting

http://wideblueworld-dispatches.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-road-to-podcasting.html

Wednesday, July 15, 2015. The Road to Podcasting. I’m in the midst of preparing this week’s podcast, #7 already. It requires a road trip which is a pretty wonderful thing. And it’s a short road trip which is equally wonderful because I have little motivation to venture too far from my. The godfather of modern radio storytelling) giving some hints. http://wideblueworld-daily.blogspot.com/2015/08/august-14-2015.html

August 14, 2015. Normally I come home from my long Mimm's Ranch walk and make my lunch and spend my afternoon working on novel or podcast or cleaning my bathroom (favorite avoidance technique) etc. I just now got home and looked at what I have on my task list for this afternoon: lunch out and a haircut. I'm so nice to myself! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Do you think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary? What we need is to live without getting tired. Tuesday, June 9, 2015. This is the blog of Gretel Enck of Marfa, Texas. Welcome to the silly, comforting blog,. To paraphrase Mary Oliver. And we all should, regularly. The blog is not the world. It isn't even the first page of the world. But the blog wants to flower, like a flower. It knows that much. It wants to open itself,. Like the door of a little temple,. So that you might step inside and be cooled and refreshed,. And less yourself than part of everything. November 25, 2015 at 6:12 AM.

Wide Blue World: Dispatches: Smelling the Earth

http://wideblueworld-dispatches.blogspot.com/2015/05/smelling-earth.html

Monday, May 11, 2015. Two of my goals for the Marfa weekend were 1. sitting on the hard seats of the Crowley Theater. And partaking of the CineMarfa film festival, and 2. getting outside and enjoying the record spring bloom. Don't worry- it should go without saying I ate some good food too. A highlight of the festival was a series of four short experimental films by a local artist. My goal of getting outside was fulfilled on Saturday when I took my favorite local walk on Mimm's Ranch. Soundtrack for Movi...

Sunday, May 31, 2015. Richard Serra in Iceland. Tanding Stones Nine Locations – two elevations. The artwork Afangar (Stages) was set up on the western part of the island of Videy in 1990. It is the work of American artist Richard Serra (b. 1939), commissioned by the Reykjavik Art Museum on the initiative of the Reykjavik Arts Festival. You could also call it Iceland’s version of the Spiral Jetty. And how rich am I? Columnar basalt, by the by, is also reflected in the signature church of Reykjavik.

Wide Blue World: Dispatches: Minimalism is not Perfection

http://wideblueworld-dispatches.blogspot.com/2015/08/minimalism-is-not-perfection.html

Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Minimalism is not Perfection. I finally got around to visiting some of the small galleries in my neighborhood this past Saturday. It was fun. I saw some art and commerce and had nice interaction, especially a surprise conversation about Eastern Europe with the insightful Latvian-American who turns out to be my neighbor. She proceeded to explain to me that minimalism was just reducing something until it could be reduced no farther, a stripping bare. 8217;s definition of perfection:.

Wide Blue World: Finds: Sprouts

http://wideblueworld-finds.blogspot.com/2015/08/sprouts.html

Thursday, August 13, 2015. As I've unpacked my boxes from storage, some of which I've been apart from for over a year, I've found some wonderful things: a pretty shoulder bag I've never used, my favorite winter scarves, reliable kitchen tools. I bought my sprouting jar a hundred years ago (ok, maybe fifteen), that summer I worked at Bryce Canyon. I don't guess I've ever used it as much since. I remember going hiking and taking sandwiches dressed with sprouts: egg salad, hummus, cheese.

Wide Blue World: Dispatches: Tiny Libraries and Immense Journeys

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Tiny Libraries and Immense Journeys. My homeowners returned a couple of weeks ago, and straightaway Todd committed a dramatic and laudable act of purging, in the category of books. Before the trip to the used bookstore, I conducted a small experiment. You may know of the Little Free Library. Book Yay: give and take. Yesterday morning, birthday morning, I took a couple of book store rejects to the Methodist tiny library and found a birthday gift from the universe:. Watermark tem...

Sunday, August 9, 2015. Friday, July 31, 2015. Slim Witness: Required Reading. Last week I met a man who devotes his time and energy to fighting nuclear power.
