As pretty as a picture: Life Drawing
http://buddingartist.blogspot.com/2010/04/life-drawing.html
As pretty as a picture. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. I've also decided to take up life drawing. I have a big goal I want to pursue by year's end, and this is a part of it. This is my first effort: the subject was an older male. I am pretty happy with this, especially because it has shown me where I really need to focus (head, hands, feet, genitals, proportions). As pretty as a picture. Tuesday, June 19, 2007. But I want to play! I like lion cubs. Two pictures in two weeks. I've never been so productive :) It's amazing how inspiration takes you when you're sitting at home for 5 days straight. 11x14" on drafting film, with coloured pencil. Friday, June 15, 2007. It's been a while since I've posted anything: first there was the dancing chipmunk disaster (aka Leaping Cougar), then a tiger head that just does not want to be finished (it told me so! But I want to play!

As pretty as a picture. Thursday, December 27, 2007. Like a Tiger *grrrrrrr*. So, after much angst and gnashing of teeth, I have finally finished my first animal oil painting! I couldn't post it here when I finished because I was giving it to my husband as a surprise for Christmas and I know he has sent this link to people. I'm pretty damned happy with it. I am especially pleased with how the feet turned out given they were looking awfully like horrible blobs for a while there! Oh, and Jay's reaction?

As pretty as a picture. Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Well, I will be :). After a break of two years I'm feeling the art bug again. I've got something mapped out in my mind that I want to try, and now I have the space to do it! I expect to start over the weekend, and at least get an initial sketch in. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). As pretty as a picture: February 2012
http://buddingartist.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
As pretty as a picture. Sunday, February 19, 2012. An outpouring of art. So: I have actually been doing a bit recently, but have completely neglected this blog in the meantime. I thought it was time to put up my newer work, given I've just directed some people here :D. This one to the left is my very first plein air piece. It was an oil, painted at Kerry Lake near Macedon. This one was from an acrylics course I did - a seascape, if you can't tell :D We also did a landscape:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

As pretty as a picture. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. I have actually produced artwork! Sure, they are experimental, but they are real physical pieces of paper with scribbles on it. First up - pastels. Noel and I decided to do a pastels course together, my blatant horror of touching chalky substances notwithstanding. I've completed two pieces, both of which I'm not rapt with. However there is some merit in the medium, so I'm going to try again. Here they are: Golden Lake and Autumn Ends.

As pretty as a picture. Saturday, August 18, 2007. A Man and his Horse. It has been 1 year since I started drawing! And in a fit of vertigo-induced madness I decided it was a good time to try my first horse, my first material and my first person all in one big new drawing! Who on earth thinks this is a good idea? That's correct, crickets chirping. Saturday, August 11, 2007. And Baby Makes Three! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. A Man and his Horse. And Baby Makes Three!
As pretty as a picture: Dinner!
http://buddingartist.blogspot.com/2007/10/dinner.html
As pretty as a picture. Friday, October 19, 2007. Okay, first a quick warning: this picture may disturb some people. To me it is nature in all it's stunning and savage glory, which does indeed involve the animals I love to draw having to catch and kill their own food. That said, it's not exactly gory, so don't worry about that. However, drawing it was pretty therapuetic, I must say. It's about 10x15", on drafting film, using Polychromos and Prismacolour pencils. Wilder Herbs | Home
Why Grow Fresh Herbs? In a hectic, fast-paced world it’s easy to neglect some of the simple pleasures of life. Vibrantly green and wildly aromatic, home grown herbs are paramount among those pleasures. Imagine the convenience of stepping outside the back door and grabbing a handful of basil to add to the evening’s pasta sauce or better yet, just reaching up to the windowsill for a bunch! Start your day with a steamy mug of mint tea and come home to a soothing footbath made with fragrant lavender flowers.
Into the Wilder
Welcome Into the Wilder. Tuesday, March 11, 2008. It is a lot of hours in the hot sun rummaging. These were the only two signs of life I saw that day, I am glad I found them together.
