Wildlife Photographic Journals: July 2014

http://wildlifephotographic.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 20, 2014. Romania and the Last Frontier - Day 6 p.m: Bearded Tits by Buggy. We had not gone down the sandy track from the hotel when we came across the first bird, a Hoopoe hunting mole crickets along the verges with the sun high overhead. Birds on one side of the track were back lit. Whilst the other side provided some good even lighting conditions in the softening evening sun. Young birds on reed seed heads. A rather soggy looking adult male, presumably that has recently bathed. It had bee...

Wildlife Photographic Journals: May 2014

http://wildlifephotographic.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 03, 2014. Taking photographs at ground level when the vegetation is quite short, apart from giving you neck ache! When your in close to a hare its amber coloured glassy eyes reflect the surrounding environment, in the case below the evening sky, but I am always curious as to the thought processes that are going on behind. The images in the post are a selection from a series of short evening sessions that I have spent with the hares over the last few weeks. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://wildlifephotographic.blogspot.com/2015/07/immersed-in-iceland-day-5-myvatn.html

Friday, July 24, 2015. Immersed in Iceland: Day 5 - Myvatn Circuits. Once more we had not gone too far in the 'campervan' before we came across our first bird, stood in the road, a Ptarmigan. It moved to the verge and crouched low in amongst the multi-coloured short vegetation. These birds must feel fairly vulnerable when they are are still in their winter whites with no snow to conceal them from the watchful eyes of Gyr Falcon. After a good breakfast including Steve topping up his cod liver oil levels, ...

Wildlife Photographic Journals: Spring Hares

http://wildlifephotographic.blogspot.com/2015/05/spring-hares.html

Sunday, May 17, 2015. It is always a good feeling to get the first hare of the year in front of the camera. This one still in its thick winter coat, was taken in fairly low light as you can see from the size of the pupils. In the very early spring the hares seem to spend quite a bit of time in a small area of woodland from which they emerge at the beginning or end of the day to feed. The photograph below of one emerging from the woodland edge in the evening. I will finish this post with one last photo of...
