Gates - Windmill Farm: Captured on cam!

http://www.windmillfarmgates.blogspot.com/2013/06/captured-on-cam.html

An account of my days at Windmill Farm. Sunday, 23 June 2013. Look what was captured on cam last week! I have been trying to get footage of otters (which I know are occasional visitors to the Farm). A very good substitute strolled on cam! There have been 2 previous sightings of Roe Deer at the Farm (both bucks) and there have been a lot of deer prints this year - hopefully we have some residents. I also captured this little guy letting others know that the boardwalk is his! 23 June 2013 at 04:54.

Grampy Bustard: A week in Zante (part one)

http://grampybustard.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-week-in-zante-part-one.html

The musings of a southern naturalist up north. Welcome to my world. . Saturday, 25 July 2015. A week in Zante (part one). A very pleasant green island, not too many tourists and those that were there were mainly from other European countries like Poland, Sweden, France and Germany with not too many Brits. The shops were full and had no problems at all; perhaps heeding the tourist advice to take plenty of cash and not to embarrass anyone by offering credit cards did the trick. http://grampybustard.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

The musings of a southern naturalist up north. Welcome to my world. . Tuesday, 16 July 2013. Three traps in a week! The highlights among the rest were two Large Clover Case-bearer, six Elachista atricomella. Three each of Lobesia abscisana. Three each of White Satin and Double Lobed, 15 Silky Wainscot and two Blackneck. It is worth bearing in mind that the micro-moths featured here are mostly less than 10mm in length, indeed the plume moth shown microdactyla. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Grampy Bustard: June 2015

http://grampybustard.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

The musings of a southern naturalist up north. Welcome to my world. . Wednesday, 3 June 2015. And another new one. During a brief walk on Saturday at Pilmoor I noticed several larval tubes consisting of bundles of grass stems on various low vegetation. I found five in total and took a couple of poor photos which were just about good enough for me to find which species they were on the internet. It turned out that they were a micromoth Psyche casta. Which feeds on birch. Larval case of Coleophora. A male ...

http://grampybustard.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

The musings of a southern naturalist up north. Welcome to my world. . Saturday, 27 April 2013. So, off to that old favourite, Pilmoor, on the old railway line, and in four hours trapping managed a very creditable total of 300 moths of 20 species. No real surprises, the majority of the moths were Diurnea fagella. A common birch-feeder, a few Orthosias, and a handful of Eriocrania. Sp, but did include one of my favourite spring moths, a Streamer. Water Carpet - f. piceata. Links to this post.

http://grampybustard.blogspot.com/2015/07/and-moth-i-could-not-put-name-to.html

The musings of a southern naturalist up north. Welcome to my world. . Sunday, 26 July 2015. And the moth I could not put a name to. By far the commonest moth that was attracted to light in Zante was a pyralid. And found some that really resembled my pictures and not only that were present in Greece which was encouraging. It was Lamoria anella. And a further search of images online seemed to confirm it, but as always I stand to be corrected! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Charlie's Moths of Calderdale.

Grampy Bustard: June 2013

http://grampybustard.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

The musings of a southern naturalist up north. Welcome to my world. . Friday, 28 June 2013. Perks of the job. The DBS was picked up in Bristol and returned to Boroughbridge.unfortunately due to the M1 closure just had to take the long way round via Manchester. As much as a huge pleasure it was to drive, I cannot help thinking that a six litre V12 engine probably has contributed to the extinction of several species on this journey alone! Links to this post.
