Winter in the Desert, Summer in the Mountains. Monday, January 25, 2016. Going West…at last! After 4 days of sitting with Mom in the hospital, we leave early Friday morning, January 8th, 2016. Mom’s recovering nicely from her surgery and we can get on the road, guiltfree. I have picked Beaumont, TX as our destination for the night. It is a totally insane plan, for us, as it is over 400 miles! The next morning we treat ourselves to a loaded breakfast buffet at the casino hotel before hitting the road.

Winter in the Desert, Summer in the Mountains. Sunday, September 4, 2016. Last Week in Colorado and an Earthquake in KS! We arrive at Big Meadow campground early Friday morning and secure a site looking over the lake. It’s still cool, a mist hangs over the mountains. We are totally enchanted with this new campground. The run off from the lake makes a lovely waterfall. Part of the “Big Meadow”. It begins to rain as soon as we start hiking. Hmm Maybe it’s time to run the furnace? Rio Grande at Del Norte.

There were a lot in the rocks by the river, and more living in most every pile of old lumber. The Duncan house is perhaps the most photographed building in Animas Springs.
