Raising a child with type 1 diabetes to live life to the fullest, and other things that make us happy. May 13, 2015. And we pull back our paw and we pause and we say to our tormented self: Under the bed isn’t really the problem, the damn problem lives up in the attic. But the attic has stairs and a door and we really can’t give it the time it will take to sit down and wrestle with that, so we go on about our day and the stuff. just. lingers. Well maybe not for that garage-locked pervert, but for most thi...

In Good Time : Without Envy

http://withoutenvy.com/2012/03/24/in-good-time

Raising a child with type 1 diabetes to live life to the fullest, and other things that make us happy. One of the first things I did after Lia’s diagnosis for T1 was go out and buy dress clothes. It sounds crazy, I know, especially. With that in mind, I decided in 2007 to give up my first job and give writing a full time try. Eventually, I returned to my imagination and writing, but this time I approached it with the added advantage that I wanted needed to show Lia that you could pursue anything you want...

http://4seedlings.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 25, 2013. Nathan all dressed up for the Valentine's Day dance at school, so grown up! I was so jealous, she's riding bareback! Last week I had all the cousins over for a play date, it was good to see the sun! Luke with the RC car. Lily hunting for Easter eggs that Nana brought. Gabe and Jordan, couple of monkeys! We enjoyed wonderful visit with my mom the second week of February, we almost never get her to ourselves! Zach at Upwards Basketball. My girl's 8th birthday. The girls watching ...

On the Journey: May 2012

http://4seedlings.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Monday, May 28, 2012. I am currently reading Animal Dreams. By Barbara Kingsolver, who happens to be one of my favorite authors. Her other book I've read, The Poisonwood Bible. Was chock full of beautifully articulated observations, and as I was reading the other night this particular one struck me:. The main character, Codi, is reading a letter she received from her sister, Hallie, who is living in Nicaragua to help the people develop their agriculture.). Ever feel like that?

Jaxson's D-Tour: Jaxsons's Diagnosis

http://jaxsonsdtour.blogspot.com/p/jaxsons-diagnosis-story.html

June 15, 2010. We arrived to the clinic and when the doctor entered the room, he scooped my boy gently into his arms, sat down beside us and told us our boy had diabetes. My heart sank at the realization that my suspicions were correct and my husband was inconsolable. As for his glucose reading, the number was so large it didn't register on the meter. I'm scared and I don't know what the future holds for us, but I am committed to the survival of my son and the fight for a cure. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Jaxson's D-Tour: February 2011

http://jaxsonsdtour.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

February 4, 2011. ATTN: DOC Opinions on Testing Test Strips. When Jaxson was first diagnosed we were instructed to test the first strip out of each new bottle of test strips. We currently do this, but I'm wondering how many PWD or CWD use this practice? There have been a few times that we simply could not get a strip to test within range, however LifeScan did replace those bottles. Also, the shelf life of control solution is so short and I wasn't even sure where to purchase more. Links to this post.

April 18, 2014. Need some ideas.HELP? Could really use some advice, help, suggestions from other single parents of Type 1 kiddos. Mostly with day care options/job ideas or options. Living in a small town it's been a challenge finding someone to care for him that can oversee his care, therefor it is limiting me in what hours I'm available to work. Ideally I would like to become self-employed. Any ideas? Lately I've gone through jobs like people change their underwear. Any and all ideas are welcome! When Y...

Without an "E," Please | Everything from spelling my name right to current events

Without an E, Please. Everything from spelling my name right to current events. First week at STU. Well, the big time has come. I figure my blog log of current events would be remiss if I didn’t record the end of a chapter. I admit that I get this idea partly from Amanda Gould (see her blog post here. But it also comes from a desire to have a memory record of this time in my life. After four years, I am one six-page paper away from finishing my BA. (more…).
