Wombling Africa: November 2005

http://womblingafrica.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 10, 2005. View from the Zebra bar. LR at the Zebra bar. We managed to leave Mauritania by paying 10E to customs for the car , and then James had to sit in a hot stuffy room and argue with the police (one of which kept waving a truncheon asking if he knew what it was for! About how much we paid to get our passports stamped and returned. We had given our last to the Mauritania police to get our passports back! One mile further on there was a second roadblock and us and all the French (we...

Wombling Africa: January 2006

http://womblingafrica.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 21, 2006. Colin fixes the chair broken by the SA chaps. Lads at the Vic Falls. Leaving Mozambique was a slightly more difficult affair than our entry. The International Vehicle Carnet (passport) for the car was not actually authorised for Mozambique, so we should never have been allowed in! Anyway Colin managed to use his usual charm and idiot-grin , and shortly afterwards he was up in front of the Zambian officials trying to work the magic again. We broke our journey in Lusaka where we...

Wombling Africa: June 2006

http://womblingafrica.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 12, 2006. It's the end of the road as we know it and sadly for me an expedition prepared Land Rover isn't really practical for everyday use in Surrey! So 7 months, 23,500 miles and some 19 countries later it is time for us to say goodbye and with that, regrettably, the 110 is now up for sale:. Expedition Prepared Land Rover 110. 1985 110 Station Wagon. 300 TDI with R380 gearbox Ashcroft (New) Transfer box (approx 20,000 miles). Heavy Duty suspension all round. Sound proofing kit fitted.

Saturday, February 25, 2006. Namibia Pt. 3. Chilling on the beach outside Swakop. Sosusvlei river in flood. Namibia Pt. 3. We left the beach early in the morning and headed into Swakopmund (known locally as Swakop ). Having been under canvas for well over a month we headed to the Municipal rest camp and rented a chalet. We spent the day resting, sorting out our washing (mostly done by Nick! Still it gave the lads something to laugh about. Following the quad biking we took some time to recover before leav...

Saturday, January 14, 2012. I decided to assemble a top metal list of 2011 too, if for no other reason so I can praise the greatness of Locrian's latest album. I dug a lot of things on the heavier side in 2011 but wasn't sure how to classify them on the other lists, so here we go. Probably the most interesting metal/noise band for me this year was Horseback. But they (he) didn't release a full length, unless you count the excellent Gorgon Tongue. Top Metal of 2011. True Traitor, True Whore. Is black meta...

Wombling – Finding areas of rapid change. Thoughts and ramblings shared publicly. End the annual performance review: APIs to your social influence. Ok, I know, I’ve been writing about ending annual performance review for ages, and people are still doing them. My fellow SAP Mentor Prashanth Padmanabhan. Posted an interesting piece about some extracts that he’s been using to explain the impact of his social networking and how it is an effective performance indicator for use in his annual review. Wombling Free | spinning, dyeing, knitting and other domestic goodliness

Spinning, dyeing, knitting and other domestic goodliness. April 11, 2015. April 11, 2015. So much to report, so little time to write posts! I’ve been helping my parents with lambing, and it’s been busy. Lots of work, not much sleep and no internet. This has been my home this past week. Yes – it’s as grim as it looks! Certainly not a Connievan. This is my view when brushing my teeth. I also had some very exciting results from some lichen dyeing – that’s another unwritten post. Oh, and I toiled a prom dress.

One Month On (Almost) - Um mês em (quase). I have now been back in the UK for almost 1 month, and to be honest I have missed writing my Blog on a regular basis, I had such good feedback from people about it, that really made me encouraged about it, as with any website it only works if people want to read what you have to say. People are still coming up to me and asking about my trip so I think it's time to do a bit more writing about it. No sábado à noite cheguei em casa para encontrar meu ...Over the pa...
