Gustafson Family: April 2007
http://gustafson-family.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 29, 2007. It’s good when a thing can remind us of our mortality. There’s an easy way of relating to possessions that we use all the time that alienates us from reality rather than facing us into things. A favorite example for me has been the computer. I resent the time I spend servicing a computer because I think that it should be serving me. Today I had to make a trip to a doctor’s office to get a prescription for a baby who has been exposed to measles. I was in a hurry because it’s be...

Gustafson Family: January 2007

Saturday, January 27, 2007. In Singapore you turn on a light switch by flipping it down. We've lived in Manila for a long time, but have seen very little of the rest of Asia. So this trip was a good insight into how diverse a continent Asia really is. Small wonder that he was able almost single handedly to bring his country from the third world to the first in such a short span of time. Posted by Gustafson Family at 10:22 PM. Friday, January 19, 2007. You'll never guess where we are writing from. Whe...

Gustafson Family: December 2006
http://gustafson-family.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 27, 2006. Merry Christmas' is a verb in the Philippines. When a guard or a kid on the street says 'Merry Christmas,' it means good cheer, but more cheer if you give me some money. At night, carollers come around and sing. But 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' means. We've sung enough now, you can come out now and give us money. Christmas day, for many people, is a long day of taking their children around to everyone they might get something from, asking for a 'Merry Christmas.'. There h...

Gustafson Family: November 2006

Thursday, November 30, 2006. Noah's a tough guy. The story goes that when he hurt his thumb badly enough to go to the hospital and the doctor wanted to anesthetize it before he repaired it, Noah told him not to bother. The doctor insisted, though, so Noah told him, 'If it'll make you happy.'. I talked to my mom today (Skype! S like a Baptist hymn, 'free and marvelous') and she couldn't stop bragging about Noah. When we were home this fall he worked on our borrowed and injured car until it ran. It...When ...

Monday, October 23, 2006. Posted by Gustafson Family at 7:49 AM. Mira Gall loves children and spent lots of time with both Aubrey and Auden. Posted by Gustafson Family at 7:34 AM. Their 15-year-0ld, Luke, was one of the earliest adoptions from our home, back in 1993. They reminded of us getting stopped on the way to the airport, and trying to figure out why the police had pulled us over. Aubrey had a great time going around the different animals with him and learning about them, feeding them. Mira is any...

Gustafson Family: September 2006
http://gustafson-family.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 30, 2006. Aubrey went to school today with his cousin, Kael. He doesn't get very many opportunities to do things on his own, so I think this was very good for him. His teacher, Mrs. Rogers, was so very wise and friendly. Aubrey had a great time. If you will, please remember Auden. He's been running a fever again since last night. I think it may be breaking a bit now; he's eating for the first time today. So we hope he'll get a good night's sleep. Posted by Gustafson Family at 12:19 PM.

Tuesday, May 29, 2007. Some pictures from our worship time this morning at. The little children's home. The kids were dancing to Matt Redman and having a good time. It's been busy, but we've needed additional devotional time just to be together and to process all that is happening. Posted by Gustafson Family at 1:05 PM. Monday, May 28, 2007. Twice before and this was her 5th child. Today was Pentecost Sunday, and we remember the way the Holy Spirit came to be our guide and comfort. Our advocate. Hard to ...
