Writes for all Mommies. Supporting you in motherhood, one little blog post at a time. August 9, 2015. Over the course of summer, in between basketball practices and games, I got to spend a tremendous amount of time with my guys. For the most part, I found this time to be truly delightful. I enjoyed their humor, their company and their energy for life. It wasn’t all smooth. There were some classic moments such as these:. Full Speed and the Situation. TPuzzle’s Hug Aversion. Full Speed’s Independence.

The coach assured me he would be fine and given there is no slide tackling in this particular league, I believed her. Maybe it was the heat. Full Speed’s early soccer training days. I’m banned from the game? I’d have to go to my air-conditioned car until it was over? Soooo tempting. Or worse (better? Yet, I’d be banned from the fields for life? I cheered like we won the World Cup.

Writes for all Mommies. Supporting you in motherhood, one little blog post at a time. The Story of a girl and her First Little Buckeye. January 30, 2016. January 30, 2016. Well over a decade ago, the girl had her First Little Buckeye. Even though she was of an age that society deemed her to be a responsible adult, she didn’t feel very grown-up and worried she wasn’t going to mother him correctly. The first time she held him in her arms was transcendent. Her worry and her fear left her. The girl tries to ...

Blunt Force Mama: July 2012
http://vickiglembocki.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 14, 2012. Into The Lion's Den. I got an email yesterday morning from an editor at Newsweek's The Daily Beast asking if I wanted to write something for them about what it's like now to tell people I went to Penn State. Here was my first thought: "Are you freaking KIDDING. I am SO not getting into this.". And that's what I wrote about: "I Went to Penn State, But Don't Pity Me.". Here's what some of the commenters are saying:. I pity you as you could not get into a better school.".

Tuesday, December 22, 2009. The Tao of Christmas Tree Decorating. In retrospect, I would have done three things differently:. 1 Strung the lights the night before when the children were sleeping. 2 Had a very clear plan as to what the “Tree Decorating Teaching Moment” would be. 3 Said, “No way in hell,” when Thad asked if, in lieu of decorating, he could go to the gym. 8220;Can we hang up the ornaments? 8221; she asked. 8220;After we finish the lights.”. 8220;Can we hang up the ornaments? 8221; Drew asked.

Blunt Force Mama: I'm Gonna Cut You
http://vickiglembocki.blogspot.com/2011/02/im-gonna-cut-you.html
Monday, February 14, 2011. I'm Gonna Cut You. The first time our three-year-old Drew said it, my brain shot into immediate rationalization mode. In line, I convinced myself. She means, “I’m gonna cut you IN LINE.”. Because, really, what could be a worse offense to a three-year-old? I decided. That. Explains it. T hat. Explains why, moments ago, when I told her that we had to turn off The Fresh Beat Band. Because it was time to eat dinner, she said, “If you turn it off, I’m gonna cut you! We don’t e...

Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Slow and Steady My Ass. You’re going to throw up. You’re going to throw up. I chanted these words to myself, praying that the mere Statement of Fact might somehow alter the inevitable course of events about to transpire as the girls and I walked up the ramp to our very first ride at Storybook Land near Cape May, New Jersey. Maybe a very small Ferris wheel. Not … The Turtle Twister. 8220;What if we need to stop? 8220;Just yell,” she said, and then pressed the big red but...
Blunt Force Mama: Scorn on the Fourth of July
http://vickiglembocki.blogspot.com/2010/07/scorn-on-fourth-of-july.html
Thursday, July 1, 2010. Scorn on the Fourth of July. It wasn’t clear to me, really, how to prepare a two-year-old for sitting outside, on a blanket, in the dark of night, in a place you’ve never been before, with lots and lots of other people you don’t know sitting all around you, on blankets, waiting for someone or something—you weren’t sure which, exactly—to shoot explosives into the sky. Drew watched as Blair, like a 36-pound bullet in purple monkey jammies, sprinted off in the direction her mother wa...

Letter to a badger baiter. My dog died the other day and my world came crashing down. I thought maybe I should tell you as she was your dog once many years ago but I doubt you’d shed a tear. Her new life was full of love and happiness. Despite the suffering she endured at your hands, she never held a grudge. She was a joyful, affectionate and trusting dog who greeted everyone she met like a long lost friend. But her body told the story her cheerful demeanour hid so well. I’m sure she’d want me to forgive...

Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. May 7, 2015. I really need to stay off Facebook. It brings out the worst in me. Most of the time, it just gives me a headache. Perhaps there are too many evangelicals on my friends list. I swore I wasn’t going to write about religion here anymore, but it’s my blog and I’ll gripe if I want to, griiiiipe if I want to…. 8220;Oh atheist, if thou hast no moral absolute (in the form of Biblical mandates from on high, of course), then thou. Will Write for Beer. Reviewing beer from the KC area and beyond. Better Know a Bar. February 16, 2011. I’m sure you’ve noticed it’s been quiet around here lately. Part of that is because of the insanity surrounding the Boulevard Chocolate Ale – it’s been getting so many views that I figured I should leave it up for a while.
