Will Write for Beer. Reviewing beer from the KC area and beyond. Better Know a Bar. Kim spends a lot of time writing, thinking about writing, reading, writing more and dealing with writer's block. When she's not writing, she might be found having a beer. She often combines the writing experience with the beer experience. The combination tends to lead to more creativity but significantly impaired spelling. February 16, 2011. February 5, 2011. Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary – Grand Cru. February 2, 2011.

Will Write for Beer. Reviewing beer from the KC area and beyond. Better Know a Bar. February 16, 2011. I’m sure you’ve noticed it’s been quiet around here lately. Part of that is because of the insanity surrounding the Boulevard Chocolate Ale – it’s been getting so many views that I figured I should leave it up for a while. Part of it, more importantly, is because I’ve been busy setting up a new blog. I’m now reviewing beer, wine and cocktails at http:/ kimandtonic.com/. View all posts by Kim →. In which...

In hopes that one day, I will be able to order reliably non-sucky wine in restaurants. Newer posts →. 2009 Yvon Mau Bergerac. January 12, 2011. 2009 Yvon Mau Bergerac. Forgot to look, because I suck. I know it’s got Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in it at least. Deep, dark, almost-purple red. I’d post a picture but I have none pretty enough to bother. Anyway, it’d be an awesome nail polish color. That said, I did two seconds of research and discovered that Bergerac is in Southwest France. The red wine...

Cut Sugar – For Science. Life is fun – even with ADHD, PTSD, and a real job in an office with deadlines…. I'm a science geek with a bad case of ADHD and a better case of PTSD. I'm learning to laugh at my daily life and when I can do something "for science", then it's much more entertaining that doing it "because I should". My number one rule is "Don't should on yourself" and my number two rule is "Don't should on others", so my friends, DO IT FOR SCIENCE! One year later – more or less. April 8, 2012.

Cut Sugar – For Science. Life is fun – even with ADHD, PTSD, and a real job in an office with deadlines…. Newer posts →. How did I get here? January 20, 2011. That’s such a good question. It had something to do with my sudden desire to ditch, almost. But not quite all. The sugar and fake sugar from my diet* Why the hell would I do such a thing? Awkwardly stumbling through grad school. Mundane details of my attempt to finish graduate school as well as other random things I think of when I am procrastinating. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. A plan and a little hope. I need to come up with some specific deadlines. I think that the end of this week I should have a revised chapter 1, and perhaps the middle of next week I should have a revised version of chapter 2. Perhaps I could even have the next draft of Chapter 1 done today. I can do this! A hike with my...

Awkwardly stumbling through grad school. Mundane details of my attempt to finish graduate school as well as other random things I think of when I am procrastinating. Thursday, June 30, 2011. Going to the library, but only for coffee. Insane. I remember those days that I dedicated a whole Sunday to copying articles. And refilling my OneCard.over and over and over. Awkwardly stumbling through grad school. Mundane details of my attempt to finish graduate school as well as other random things I think of when I am procrastinating. Monday, January 31, 2011. Yesterday was a success. Today, not so much. Should I need pain meds for time to time? Should I have to keep to liquids/really soft foods twice a week to lessen pain? Could there be a way to lessen pain that doesn't require pain medication or large diet restriction? At least the first part of this post was positive.

WRITES FOR ALL MOMMIES. Supporting you in motherhood, one little blog post at a time. August 9, 2015. Over the course of summer, in between basketball practices and games, I got to spend a tremendous amount of time with my guys. For the most part, I found this time to be truly delightful. Full Speed’s Independence.

Letter to a badger baiter. My dog died the other day and my world came crashing down. I thought maybe I should tell you as she was your dog once many years ago but I doubt you’d shed a tear. Her new life was full of love and happiness. Despite the suffering she endured at your hands, she never held a grudge. She was a joyful, affectionate and trusting dog who greeted everyone she met like a long lost friend. But her body told the story her cheerful demeanour hid so well. I’m sure she’d want me to forgive...

Saturday, 22 September 2012. A sign of the times. It is the autumn equinox today. The day the the Equator teeters beneath the Sun before the Earth tips our northern lands over into the darker days. And what a strange autumn it has been so far. Early and late at the same time. The pink-footed geese arrived here a good two weeks before we expected them, piercing the bubble of the still-summer swallow skies with their arrow formations. And where is the hedgerow harvest? Tuesday, 11 September 2012. Not every...

Thursday, 18 June 2015. Thoughts on the FFVII Remake. I’d pretty much given up on writing as laziness and self-doubt got the better of me, but FFVII is one. Topic I want to put my thoughts out on regardless. Final Fantasy VII is a weird game. It’s not the first description people go to when thinking about such a seminal JRPG, but it’s a game that’s full of odd, quirky moments. I certainly feel that way when I see how others perceive the characters. Subsequent FFVII spin-offs never captured the right ...
