Saturday, August 8, 2015. Hearing the here and now. Months ago, as I was driving, I happened to noticed that Canyon Hearing Aid Center. Was torn down to make way for more parking for the next door convenience store. For some reason, I felt sad about this new turn of events. Which was a fanciful building, true to its name. Writings by Diane: October 2014

http://writingsbydiane.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 26, 2014. Writing among the distractions. A few days ago, I saw a news report on Amtrak Residency program for writers. I must admit, this program was interesting- being able to ride on a long distance train where all my attention would be on my writing. The story also reminded me of biographical movies where famous, established writers go off on writing vacations. In the movie Hitchcock. His wife, played by Helen Mirren. I believe that distractions, kept to a minimum, are useful in a way&...

Writings by Diane: Sustaining motivation

http://writingsbydiane.blogspot.com/2015/03/sustaining-motivation.html

Saturday, March 28, 2015. Finding inspiration can be fun and exciting—sustaining motivation from that inspiration is when it becomes tricky. The first time I saw the movie The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. I was immediately touched by the sheer determination of Jean-Dominque Bauby. The movie chronicled this man going through an awful health crisis (a stroke that leads to locked-in syndrome. Will live another day without me playing the game! The diving bell and the butterfly. Writings by Diane: Roses: Not Just for Valentine’s day

http://writingsbydiane.blogspot.com/2015/07/roses-not-just-for-valentines-day.html

Saturday, July 4, 2015. Roses: Not Just for Valentine’s day. For the longest time, I thought tending for roses was an extremely difficult hobby. After all, there are competitions. For cultivating the most perfect flower. It wasn’t until I grew rose bushes of my own did I find that I could handle them and really enjoy the experience. Also, to me, the caring of these lovely flowers is a metaphor for life. Played through my mind. With all of this concrete evidence, I agreed to the purchase. Subscribe to: Po...

Writings by Diane: August 2014

Saturday, August 16, 2014. As the days grow closer to my wedding anniversary, my husband is asking what present do I want? This question turned my thinking to one of the best presents I received from him. We had met over 20 years ago and on one of our first dates, he asked me how my parents came up with my name? A few dates later, he surprised me with a mix tape, a cassette tape with recorded songs. (In those days, there was no Pandora. Saturday, August 2, 2014. One answer to the question. I wake up befo...

Writings by Diane: In memory of my father

http://writingsbydiane.blogspot.com/2015/05/in-memory-of-my-father.html

Saturday, May 16, 2015. In memory of my father. A couple of weeks ago, my father passed away. Though he was in his eighties and lived a good life, it was hurtful to receive the phone call. He was a great father and grandfather and I miss him terribly. A box fan was in my open bedroom window. I looked out at the sunny afternoon sky and wondered how could it be such a nice day after what had happened. Afterwards, I found there are many legends. Loss of loved one. Lover of love. Student of life. Sunday, July 27, 2014. There are a lot of theories about this - show a lot of emotion to your children v. don't show much or anything at all. Some professionals think showing your children you are just as easily breakable as the next person shows your children you are not some heroic form of yourself and you aren't perfect. Showing them you too can have tears, hurt feelings and failures shows them you are human. Sowhat am I going to do? Be "stronger" or just be. My daughte...

Wind Whispers

January 19, 2014. Ang gusto ko lang, 'yong. First posted March 5, 2012. October 9, 2013. I Met Her Today. I was on the train when I saw her again. I started the morning the usual way: uninspired, yet rushing towards a job I hate; hungry, yet eating up more than enough information; dissatisfied, but comfortable with the daily grind. Most of all, I was tired, but with energy to last until the next payday. What else could I- -. Until she sat next to me. Is it because she was happy when I was not? Before I c...

Writings by d.c.p. Saturday, January 7, 2017. Where are you now? Where are you now? You look past me toward the kitchen sink inside. As you wait for an answer to your question. I pause, say nothing. And wonder briefly what you’re looking at. You’re usually preoccupied. Who will look your way;. Impressed by the gold and white hue. To the new wooden floor. And the placement of the roasted tomato. Surrounded by dainty edible flowers. So this is nothing new. Kids play in the yard below. I forget to answer.

Thursday, January 20, 2011. Act of forgiving; state of being forgiven. Disposition or willingness to forgive. 1 Forgiving is allowing another person to be human for faults, mistakes, or misdeeds. Forgetting is putting these behind you; they are no longer brought up and no longer remain a barrier to your relationship. 6 Forgiving is the highest form of human behavior that can be shown to another person. It is the opening up of yourself to that person to be vulnerable to being hurt or offended in the f...

Designed to influence the mind on levels other than conscious awareness and especially by presentation too brief to be consciously perceived’ is Webster’s definition of the word ‘subliminal’. In psychology, without any claim to knowing much about the field, there probably exists a method using subliminal tactics to influence the way people think.
