Leaf out of her book

Leaf out of her book. Sunday, 1 May 2016. I spent a few weeks of April in Chicago, for the wedding of some most excellent and fabulous people. It's been five years since I've seen them and their crowd, so we spent a couple of weeks geeking out, catching up, and getting them hitched in a very heartfelt and adorable ceremony. It was absolutely lovely, and I'm so glad I could be there for it. Sirens edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling. So You Want to Be a Wizard by Diane Duane. Labels: geek is good.

Leaf out of her book: February 2014

http://writingtotherescue.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Leaf out of her book. Monday, 24 February 2014. Names will never hurt me. So it's not really that surprising I'm going for a pseudonym, right? I mean, I don't want to get stuck signing a name I don't like, or grimacing if I see my work connected to it. It would seem counterproductive. I don't want to be downplaying any actual publication success I get just because it has my name unfortunately attached to it. "Yeah, that one's mine, just don't show me the name on the cover, okay? Leaf out of her book: August 2014

http://writingtotherescue.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Leaf out of her book. Friday, 22 August 2014. Last Monday, on leaving NineWorlds properly, I headed into London and met up with friends from York. Or, more specifically, three friends from York, one of whom was travelling from Northampton, and one friend from Huntingdon, who was travelling with the other two from York, and. yes, it started off a little complicated and went from there. But we all congregated together for the Fantasy In The Court. Con attendance: 10,700, I heard someone say in passing.

Leaf out of her book: May 2014

http://writingtotherescue.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Leaf out of her book. Wednesday, 28 May 2014. Hi there, been a while. A pretty busy while, as it happens. Done lots of proofreading for friends, a lot more running around and helping/cleaning/tidying for friends (and me), and not nearly enough writing. In fact, after some discussion with a couple of folks, I'm halfway through a blogpost about writer's block. But that'll have to wait another day or two. Back in February, my very first post. Journal, has now been accepted for publication. Lea Fletcher writ...

Leaf out of her book: I'm just going to work. I may be some time

http://writingtotherescue.blogspot.com/2015/12/im-just-going-to-work-i-may-be-some-time.html

Leaf out of her book. Thursday, 31 December 2015. I'm just going to work. I may be some time. Ooh, there's been a bit of quiet on here, hasn't there? Now, what happened in February/March to distract me from here? Oh wait. That. So uh Hi. I work at Waterstones now. It's been a lot of fun. There have been signings. So many signings. There have been parties. There have been games. There have been costumes. And there have been conventions upon conventions and dear heavens so many books. So many. Been reading...

Leaf out of her book: February 2016

http://writingtotherescue.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html

Leaf out of her book. Monday, 1 February 2016. I have been a very busy bookseller this last month. There's been some redecorating, events, section shuffles, and the post-Christmas tidy up. But I've still found time to cram some books down my gullet. I'm trying to do better at keeping track of what, too. So here we go! All five volumes of Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples. Planetfall by Emma Newman. What more could you want, right? A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan. Oooh, now this was...

Writing To Survive | Ramblings of a Secondhand Breast Cancer Victim

The ACA, AFLAC and More. November 23, 2014. The reason I opposed the ACA was that I was worried about people in my own financial situation, or worse, who simply went without health insurance because they could not afford it. (I won’t get into how this wouldn’t be a problem if our health care pricing wasn’t so far out of line…) This was my concern, first personally, but then extended to others that I thought surely existed. Writing to Think and Learn

Writing to Think and Learn. Sunday, October 6, 2013. Data is, or data are? The Oxford English Dictionary. Has the following to say about the use of the word data as a mass noun (data is) versus as a count noun (data are):. In Latin, data. Is the plural of datum. And, historically and in specialized scientific fields, it is also treated as a plural in English, taking a plural verb, as in "the data were. Which takes a singular verb. Before Occupy and all its myriad (and at times catastrophic) effects on my life, I was a one-trick pony of sorts. Writing to Wake Up

Writing to Wake Up. A place to share our writing and keep the spirit of the class alive outside of the usual meeting time. Sunday, August 16, 2015. There are two pigs loose in Fenton,. Has been caught; the other is still. Apparently someone’s strawberry patch. Is decimated and the raucous twosome. Have made light of fences and other gardens. No one has been hurt. The one was pictured in social media wearing little plastic, red boots. Was that Wilbur or his cohort? As they say in up-speak these days) .
