Sarah Wallace: "Crossing" from Lost Names
http://wallaceworldcultures.blogspot.com/2008/05/crossing-from-lost-names.html
Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Crossing" from Lost Names. I thought this first story was pretty interesting. It was not at all what I had been expecting though. I expected it to be kind of like Things Fall Apart. Where there are like mini stories that all tie together to make one novel. However, that doesn't seem to be the case for Lost Names. From what I understand, each story is about the same family, just at different times in their life. May 20, 2008 at 3:11 PM. Often in Asia, names are not used but instead...

Sarah Wallace: Sold (202-end) and Final Thoughts
http://wallaceworldcultures.blogspot.com/2008/05/sold-202-263.html
Saturday, May 10, 2008. Sold (202-end) and Final Thoughts. I wonder if the other girls ever got out? I do not see why they could not have taken down the entire operation. Is prostitution not illegal in India? I guess some people probably listen while others do not. Even awareness campaigns would be helpful. I doubt that many people are aware of how large an industry this really is. Something definitely needs to be done so that others do not suffer from this. If not, where is she now? I think she saw what...

Sarah Wallace: "Homecoming"--Lost Names
http://wallaceworldcultures.blogspot.com/2008/05/homecoming-lost-names.html
Wednesday, May 7, 2008. While the class was outside for a break (kind of like our recess? I know I probably would. Yet for some reason, he is still excited about going to school. I wonder if he will later change his mind, or if he will always like school? Yeah, the teacher beating up the kid was a shocker, but it also sets the tone for how much the Korean's take pride in staying Korean. They won't give up their identity no matter what. Luckily there were some good teachers who stepped in.

Sarah Wallace: Sold (52-101)
http://wallaceworldcultures.blogspot.com/2008/05/sold-51-101.html
Saturday, May 10, 2008. It's amazing how many times she is sold and re-sold, and you really get a feel for how evolved this network is for human trafficking. Lakshmi is so innocent and has no idea where she's heading off to. I think they kind of bank on that. Mumtaz is pure evil, and uses these girls like disposable tools. She doesn't hesitate to throw girls out on the street who can no longer serve her needs. This book gives a good account of just how cheap life is viewed in India. Very sad.

I thought that it was weird that Annie's dad lied all this time about his actual place at the prison. Even if he is ashamed of what he has done, why would he lie to his daughter about his past? I was worried at the beginning of the story, because I didn't know who Mr. Shifftlet was. He said he could have been lieing, so what if he did? I was just worried about her at the end of the story. My feeling towards Mr. Shifflet changed also. I didn't like him after he did that horrible thing.
