Installing the 17-6803, 17-6822 and. In '71 to '79 XS650's. Note: Use of the 17-6810 coil will void the warranty. Start by scraping the plastic off of the mounting ears of the coil. You can use ordinary ground clamps, available at a hardware store, to clamp the coil to the cross bar under the gas tank. Go to Home Depot and buy 2 Ground Clamps (1/2 - 3/4 - 1) #051411160104 @ $1.46 ea. Attach the clamps to the coil using bolts in place of the screws and clamp to the cross bar. Here is the 17-6822 Coil.
