Tiling Over Life: DSL
http://listemeplayslikeagirl.blogspot.com/2010/10/dsl.html
Friday, October 22, 2010. Current DC SOWPODS League activity is still confined to the Kitchen at John&Marsh's, but it's exciting and mind-expanding. (Honestly, it's partly Simon's recuperation that has us playing more. He's not supposed to jump on furniture for 2 weeks, and the kitchen is really the only room that he can freely hang out in.). We should develop a logo, and a motto! I won both games tonight with the help of the magic tile bag fairies. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The rest of me.

Manassas and Other Planets: The house with two writers, chapter 119
http://themanassasproject.blogspot.com/2009/08/house-with-two-writers-chapter-119.html
Manassas and Other Planets. Thursday, August 20, 2009. The house with two writers, chapter 119. J: i started dune. the pov stuff is interesting to track. J: the book seems to lie at a certain point on a historio-literary axis, between the 'old days' of omniscient-pov, and the nouveau age of limited or close 3rd-person pov. he does it very very well, and it's quite appealing. Just a bit unusual to a "modern" ear. Marsh: i really enjoy it. Marsh: it's a fast adjustment. J: i know YOU'RE not. The rest of me.

Tiling Over Life: Philly One Day
http://listemeplayslikeagirl.blogspot.com/2013/08/philly-one-day.html
Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Things that went really well:. Food was fine. I wasn't starved! Ensures, bananas, luna bars, snickers. Hamburger for lunch, although I forgot to bring the leftover fries back with me.). Fours and fives. I really feel like I'm getting control over them. I got to steal a nickel from Dave on a five, which is always satisfying. Things that went okay:. And come up with a nonglare board and demand everyone use it. Challenges: Uh, what was I thinking challenging DEODARA? Beautiful: It i...

Tiling Over Life: December 2008
http://listemeplayslikeagirl.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 24, 2008. Anyway, my real point is: the main objectors are from a certain generation of Scrabble play, with lower NSA member numbers (that might be whimsical; I have no idea if they are sequential member numbers). A lot of them are also from a certain actual generation. The new generations (Scrabble and otherwise) are not "afraid of teh pods". We just have to be patient and keep doing the work. Yes, I'm melodramatic. It's the holidays. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The rest of me. Some ...

Tiling Over Life: Charlotte post-mortem, the big picture
http://listemeplayslikeagirl.blogspot.com/2012/02/charlotte-post-mortem-big-picture.html
Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Charlotte post-mortem, the big picture. You know how if you're really hungry, whatever you eat tastes extra great? That's what it felt like to play tournament games again. The losses, of which there were a whole lot, didn't bug me at all during the event. It was just so enjoyable to PLAY. I was starved for it. 1 No more void games for me ever. Unfortunately, the facebook type games are all void (that I know of). They give me bad habits, and I'm done with them. 5 John and I pla...

Tiling Over Life: August 2010
http://listemeplayslikeagirl.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 19, 2010. Two down, 999 to go. The second game I drew all the great tiles and barely squeaked out a 25 point win. But look at the record. It just shows a nice clean 1 to 1. To be fair, John did play nice words like FIREP(L)UG. For many points. Wednesday, August 18, 2010. We're about to switch over to all collins all the time (again, yes). Should we start a brand new series? Say - best of 1000? Or should we merely add on to the lifetime championship series? No easy answers, I'm afraid.

Tiling Over Life: September 2009
http://listemeplayslikeagirl.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Our nerdy Tuesday nights of pizza and Battlestar Galactica (no, I'm not joking) have changed to Fridays for this semester. The local writing group has just changed to Thursdays. Do you know what this means? This means we might actually have a club night! Break out the tiles, baby! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Manassas and Other Planets
http://themanassasproject.blogspot.com/2009/07/most-important-thing-is-to-remember.html
Manassas and Other Planets. Saturday, July 25, 2009. The most important thing is to remember that everyone - everyone - has a story. It's probably a long story. Life is terribly and wonderfully complicated, and if I can just remember that everyone is in the moments of their own life, I can have mercy and patience. Or at least I try to. It also helps my fiction when I keep this in mind. People are not furniture. (Except mannequins, kind of, but that's a long story.). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
