Yarn crafting in the Heart of England. Tag Archives: Fair isle. July 22, 2015. Wandering around a local National Trust kitchen garden recently with 2 (non-knitty) friends I’ve known since college days, enjoying the sunshine, catching up with news, and gently walking off our generous lunch, I didn’t expect to come across a fashionable … Continue reading →. Yarn crafting in the Heart of England. Friday Finished Object (F.O.). Snazzy scarecrow →. The Wednesday WIP – the chosen skein. July 15, 2015. Was to choose a skein from my stash and then decide what to make. Well, no – it was surprisingly difficult. For me, anyway. It took longer than I imagined to get to the cast on stage, but my project is now well under way and I thought you might like an update. Without this blog challenge, this pretty skein may have been overlooked in favour of a different and pred...

Yarn crafting in the Heart of England. I’d rather be knitting …. Friday Finished Object →. August 5, 2015. You glance down as you’re crafting and realise that the end of the yarn is approaching …. There are still 3 very long rows plus a picot edging to do … and picot simply devours yarn …. You’re not sure if there will be enough to reach the end …. You only had one skein – and there isn’t any more available …. It’s a close call …. Miss the final 2 rows of the lace pattern and cast off early? You are comm...

A rush of yarn to the head. My new work space! An apology →. My first sewing project…. June 5, 2013. While I don’t have a lot to report on the knitting front (there is progress, but it’s very slow), I do have some sewing to show you! This is my first substantial sewing project since I finished my textiles GCSE nearly 8 years ago, and it’s a simple book bag, made from the “Easy As Pie” pattern which is in the most excellent. I noticed that she was skipping stitches, so I looked in the manual to make sure ...

A rush of yarn to the head. And now for something… Shiny! My new work space! May 19, 2013. I have now returned from my honeymoon and just thought I’d check in to say hello. I was intending to post sooner, but getting married is a lot more tiring than I realised, so I’ve only just got the energy! Here are a few photos from the big day:. Our wedding rings. They are both engraved with the inscription on the One Ring from Lord of the Rings. Yes, we are both nerds. The happy couple (still in shock…). This is ...

yarnsneak – exploring the world of yarn bombing
Exploring the world of yarn bombing. October 14, 2015. October 12, 2015. I am working on my leafy yarn bomb, but I have a few side projects that I am doing as well. These. Are much more simple than I thought they would be. I am working on cabling without a cable needle, and at first I had some moments of anxiety. However, I am getting the hang of it. I don’t think I would use this technique on cables with 4 stitches per side. I am using Berroco Vintage in Fennel. Fall Leaves Bomb: Starting Point. The air...
