Yarn Snob

Knit the best, crochet the rest. Don't forget the flame test! Thursday, April 21, 2011. I don't know a single knitter/artist/craftsperson who doesn't dream of winning the ******* so you you don't have to work and can spend all day doing what you really want to do. I myself have a ******* ticket in my person that I still need to check the numbers for. I am tickled pink, uber excited, and so lucky that I got this lucky, plus it helps to have connections and fab references. Thursday, April 21, 2011. Is less...

Garden Purls: Diving in

http://gardenpurls.blogspot.com/2007/06/diving-in.html

Ruminations and observations from an urban gardener and knitter. Monday, June 25, 2007. I've been so busy doing stuff that I just keep putting off blogging. The more I put it off, the more anxious I get about how I'm going to post something really long. So, I'm just diving in tonight. Mark and my sister put together a surprise birthday party. It's fantastic. If you're interested in making freezer jam with honey or fruit juice as sweetener, this is the product to get. I don't know what I'll do about eggs ...

Garden Purls: Ah, summer

http://gardenpurls.blogspot.com/2007/07/ah-summer.html

Ruminations and observations from an urban gardener and knitter. Thursday, July 05, 2007. Moving clockwise, a few more stacks of cinder blocks mark out the dimensions of the asparagus bed. Again, I likely won't use cinder blocks since this will be a pretty deep bed, too. I thought the photos looked familiar at first glance, and then I realized they were photos of raised beds that we constructed a year or two after moving to this house. Mark would have taken the photos, and I must have posted them som...

Garden Purls: The state of my crafting

http://gardenpurls.blogspot.com/2007/07/state-of-my-crafting.html

Ruminations and observations from an urban gardener and knitter. Friday, July 13, 2007. The state of my crafting. Wow, it's been a rough ride lately in my crafting life. I have been doing some things, though. Let me just list them here:. A sleeveless baby "saque" (whatever that means) in crochet and knit. A pair of socks. An object for the Chicago Crochet Coral Reef. What is that last one? Well, if I can alert David Reidy of the Sticks and String. Podcast to this cool new project and get it mentioned.

Garden Purls: A new sandbox

http://gardenpurls.blogspot.com/2007/08/new-sandbox.html

Ruminations and observations from an urban gardener and knitter. Monday, August 06, 2007. One of the reasons I haven't been posting here is because I've been playing around on Vox. There are some great features and it is much. Easier to put together a blog post with photos than it is here on Blogger. I'm still figuring things out there on Vox, but so far I'm much happier with it. If only I could figure out how to export my Blogger stuff and import it into Vox.hmmm. Check out the blog I've created on Vox.

yarnsmithery | Yarn crafting in the Heart of England

Yarn crafting in the Heart of England. August 12, 2015. Last year, a friend and I attended a beginners’ felting workshop run by The Tewkesbury Sewing School. Where we were encouraged to create free-form designs using a range of simple techniques and various scraps of materials. Everyone in the class had great fun and the items we created were so diverse you’d have thought we had attended different workshops! I knitted a simple cream cover for a box canvas, and blanket stitched the heart to it. Miss the f...

yarnsneak – exploring the world of yarn bombing

Exploring the world of yarn bombing. October 14, 2015. October 12, 2015. I am working on my leafy yarn bomb, but I have a few side projects that I am doing as well. These. Are much more simple than I thought they would be. I am working on cabling without a cable needle, and at first I had some moments of anxiety. However, I am getting the hang of it. I don’t think I would use this technique on cables with 4 stitches per side. I am using Berroco Vintage in Fennel. Fall Leaves Bomb: Starting Point. The air...

I'm A YarnSnob....

I'm A YarnSnob…. A few of my favourite sewing books at the moment. Style Stitches by Amy Butler. Seams to Me By Anna Maria Horner. Sew a Metre by Rebecca Yaker and Patricia Hoskins. Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross. Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts by Martha Stewart. Simple Sewing by Lotta Jansdotter (on loan to friend). First project from this book, first glance, impossible, challenging, lots of seaming, yes , lots of ironing, yes but not so good when the day is extremely warm. I was roasting!
