Weekend In Progress…. | I'm A YarnSnob....

https://yarnsnob.wordpress.com/2011/02/21/weekend-in-progress

I'm A YarnSnob…. Weekend In Progress…. Sew…can I sew? Well I won’t say I’m an experienced seamstress. I mean, I can sew a little, have made duvet covers and pillow cases. I once got full grades at school for making a simple dress with pockets, that I sewed on the front and through the back and couldn’t understand why it wouldn’t slip over my head. A simple tote bag and some curtains but nothing as advanced at this. Who was I kidding, ME….make that? But I did get the final cut and enough to make two bags.

Favourite Sewing Books | I'm A YarnSnob....

https://yarnsnob.wordpress.com/2011/04/26/my-favourite-sewing-books

I'm A YarnSnob…. A few of my favourite sewing books at the moment. Style Stitches by Amy Butler. Seams to Me By Anna Maria Horner. Sew a Metre by Rebecca Yaker and Patricia Hoskins. Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross. Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts by Martha Stewart. Simple Sewing by Lotta Jansdotter (on loan to friend). First project from this book, first glance, impossible, challenging, lots of seaming, yes , lots of ironing, yes but not so good when the day is extremely warm. I was roasting!

RoseKnits: March 2010

http://annielafferty.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 25, 2010. I must admit - although I've been knitting for close to three years now, I am very intimidated by knitting socks. Something about "turning the heel" and doing the kitchener stitch is all too much for me. While working at Loops on Tuesday evening, on of my co-workers had the cutest baby sock pattern using worsted weight yarn. I thought, surely I can handle a baby sock with worsted weight yarn. I even used fingering weight yarn - from stash! It has been awhile since I have actually.

Pure Purl: Moving House

http://pure-purl.blogspot.com/2009/07/pure_6633.html

Home to luxury knitting yarns and accessories. Tuesday, 14 July 2009. Things have been a wee bit manic lately.  I have been in the process of moving Pure Purl headquarters from York back to my native Stockport. As you can imagine this has been no easy feat with the amount of wool we stock (currently stashed at my mums! York has been my home for the past 4 years and I absolutely adore it. I thought I would share some things I love about a wonderful city. Lovely friendly people . Year of Yarn 2010. View my...

RoseKnits: August 2010

http://annielafferty.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 17, 2010. To Have or Have Not. This subject has been a hot topic for me for as long as I can remember. I even recall an impromptu speech during my senior year speech class on the subject. Hair. My hair in particular. To me, the subject of black ladies and their hair is funny. I have been relaxing my hair for 20 years – part habit, part afraid to see what it looks like natural. Would I feel as pretty with shorter, curly hair? Friday, August 13, 2010. This week has been a GREAT week for me!

Knitting Factor: This fringe has been a headache

http://knittingfactor.blogspot.com/2007/06/this-fringe-has-been-headache.html

The true adventures of a novice knitter. Saturday, June 16, 2007. This fringe has been a headache. So I'm making this poncho for my 4-year-old niece. I saw a photo of a great one in The Yarn Girls' Guide to Knits for Older Kids. The little girl was twirling, making the fringe fly. That was it. I had to make that poncho. Had. I should have consulted my 11-year-old nephew regarding the math! The good news is that the Knitting Answer Book. Is very useful for measuring out 10" pieces of fringe. This fringe h...

August | 2011 | Knit and Run

https://knitandrun.wordpress.com/2011/08

August 19, 2011 — knitandrun. My latest knitting project was making 2 mismatched sets of fingerless gloves for my friend for her birthday next month. I posted the first 2 mitts my previous post. I was originally planning for those to be a pair, but the pinks did not match as I would have liked them to so I decided I would just knit 2 more to match the first (in yarn, not pattern). So here they are:. I used Boyfriend Mitts. I have recently been knitting Incognito. I am quite excited about the new yarn I o...

February | 2009 | Knit and Run

https://knitandrun.wordpress.com/2009/02

Knitting Goals for 2009. February 4, 2009 — knitandrun. My goal this year is to continue knitting all year. I know to most that sounds like a ridiculous statement. For me it’s just the cycle of the year, I ususally start and end strong, but at some point in the middle, knitting output hits the skids. This year, I am hoping that my choice of projects will help me keep things moving along. I started my red version of the Barn Raising Quilt. In addition to the Red Barn Raising Quilt. Blog at WordPress.c...

yarnsneak – exploring the world of yarn bombing

Exploring the world of yarn bombing. October 14, 2015. October 12, 2015. I am working on my leafy yarn bomb, but I have a few side projects that I am doing as well. These. Are much more simple than I thought they would be. I am working on cabling without a cable needle, and at first I had some moments of anxiety. However, I am getting the hang of it. I don’t think I would use this technique on cables with 4 stitches per side. I am using Berroco Vintage in Fennel. Fall Leaves Bomb: Starting Point. The air...

Knit the best, crochet the rest. Don't forget the flame test! Thursday, April 21, 2011. I don't know a single knitter/artist/craftsperson who doesn't dream of winning the lottery so you you don't have to work and can spend all day doing what you really want to do. I myself have a lottery ticket in my person that I still need to check the numbers for. I am tickled pink, uber excited, and so lucky that I got this lucky, plus it helps to have connections and fab references. Thursday, April 21, 2011. Is less...
