A Year in the Kitchen: March 2009
http://yearinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
A Year in the Kitchen. Thoughts on home-cooking, dining out, and family traditions. Wednesday, March 4, 2009. One New Foodie Trick in the Bag - Seeing the Signs of a Good Orange. I haven't been feeling terribly inspired in the kitchen lately, hence the drought of posts on my blog. I'm hoping with warmer weather and lots of beautiful produce coming from my garden and the farmers' market, I'll be feeling more excited. Only another month or so and we'll be really heading into spring. View my complete profile.
A Year in the Kitchen: January 2009

A Year in the Kitchen. Thoughts on home-cooking, dining out, and family traditions. Sunday, January 25, 2009. Flying Without a Net: Potato and Leek Soup. I had been thinking about making potato soup for a few weeks and today seemed to be the perfect day for it. It's snowy and cold. A lot of the time, I work from recipes with tweaks here and there. For instance, I take a basic chili recipe and add a little Cinnamon. And a roasted Anaheim or Poblano. Amanda's Potato and Leek Soup. 1 1/2 cups diced celery.

A Year in the Kitchen. Thoughts on home-cooking, dining out, and family traditions. Thursday, January 1, 2009. New Year's Pork and Sauerkraut. In our family, there has been a long-standing tradition that on New Year's Day, you eat pork and sauerkraut. If pig and fermented cabbage don't pass your lips on this day, you are doomed to a year of bad luck! Here is the recipe:. Salt and pepper the particular cut of pork you prefer. My mother made a bone-in pork loin roast this year. January 1, 2009 at 11:11 PM.

Granny’s Soda Bread | A Year in the Kitchen
https://yearinkitchen.wordpress.com/2009/03/18/grannys-soda-bread
A Year in the Kitchen. Just another WordPress.com weblog. Granny’s Soda Bread. In honour of St. Patrick’s Day, I decided to whip up a loaf of my granny’s Irish soda bread. This is the first true “family recipe” that I have shared here and one of my most used recipes. Which brings me to my top 4 ways for eating this soda bread:. 1) Fresh out of the oven, just plain. 2) Slathered in butter. 3) With a slice of Dubliner cheese. 4) Topped with a teaspoon of blackberry jam. Granny’s Soda Bread. Laquo; Previous...

Year in the Kingdom | Teaching English at the Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia
Year in the Kingdom. Teaching English at the Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia. January to June: A Collection of Pictures. Here are 69 pictures from between January and today, May 29th, which is technically not June, but I liked the alliteration. Next year, I’ll be pursuing a Master’s degree in music composition at the University of Missouri. It is quite far from Lancaster, but they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. Please look at all the pictures; the most important one is at the end. 15 Stud...

A Year In The 'Kok
A Year In The 'Kok. Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Part 1 - Leaving Planet America for the 'Kok. If you’re smart, you take Thai Airways on your sojourn to the ‘Kok. Not American, not Delta or China Air, but Thai. Once aboard, even though the wheels of the plane are still firmly planted on Planet America, you start to become immersed in the Thai experience. Just wait. You’ve only scratched the surface. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Part 1 - Leaving Planet America for the Kok.

A Year in the Land of Smiles
A Year in the Land of Smiles. A documentation of a year spent in Thailand. I begin classed again the 25. And I have rather mixed feelings about that. Of course it is quite boring because it is difficult to participate in the classes however that is where I get most of my socialization from and I do miss being around my friends from school. So things here are just like in the U.S. in that regard. You ask for something and the gift of money provides you with good merit in return. Today we had breakfast of ...
