A Chronicle of Pregnancy and New Motherhood. March 10, 2013. Jade is nine weeks old today. It has been and will continue to be a wild ride — pregnancy, motherhood and all. So, here is my unsolicited advice to new mothers (and to myself):. Don’t go to extremes… find moderation in your activities, addictions and emotional reactions. This doesn’t make you boring, it makes you balanced. Enjoy every moment with your precious little being… the embodiment of the miracle of life. Thank you for reading! You are c...

A Chronicle of Pregnancy and New Motherhood. January 3, 2013. Well… believe it or not, I am still pregnant. Forty one weeks today. Yes, this is more than I bargained for, but on the bright side, I am totally welcoming any and all painful contractions that signal the onset of labor. A lot of irrational what-ifs fill my mind. Primarily, what if he never comes out? Or, what if I m somehow blocking the birth from happening, even though I feel totally ready on the conscious level? However. For sure the ba...

On Breastfeeding | Moving into Motherhood
https://yogafreedom2012.wordpress.com/2013/02/15/on-breastfeeding
A Chronicle of Pregnancy and New Motherhood. February 15, 2013. First, let me say I believe breastfeeding is absolutely the way to go. It’s an amazing mammalian function and I’m happy that I’m able to do it with relative ease. It’s far healthier, cheaper and more convenient than formula feeding with bottles. I gained weight in my midsection, obviously, but lost weight in my arms, legs, and face, thanks wholly to the Pana diet. On another note, I have newfound awe for single mothers as I sit here writing ...

A Chronicle of Pregnancy and New Motherhood. Monthly Archives: September 2013. First Comes Baby, Then Comes Marriage. September 27, 2013. July 20, 2013. Once upon a time, there was a girl who spent untold hours at a meditation retreat visualizing every detail of her future storybook wedding. That was me, in 2007, at my first silent Vipassana retreat. A lot can change in six years. Compared to the birth of a newborn child, matrimonial ceremonies are a bit anticlimactic. And I are lucky to have much in com...

The Birth Saga, Part 1 | Moving into Motherhood

A Chronicle of Pregnancy and New Motherhood. The Birth Saga, Part 1. January 18, 2013. After I passed the 41-week mark, my midwife Daniela started checking me every 48 hours. On Friday, January 4, I she suggested that I go in for a biophysical profile, which involves an ultrasound to check the baby’s heartbeat, arm and leg movements, amniotic fluid levels. We scheduled an appointment for 8:00 am Saturday morning with a Guatemalan doctor right here in Panajachel. I went back to my hospital room with Bladi...
