Dave in Nome: Overheard on NPR
http://daveinnome.blogspot.com/2008/11/overheard-on-npr.html
A few thoughts from the sub-Arctic. Sunday, November 09, 2008. I'll confess: I often listen to the radio, but it's not always. The one for which I work. Yesterday morning I was brushing my teeth to the non-threatening presence of KUAC (the National-Public-Radio affiliate broadcast from Fairbanks) when I heard this quote:. Don't make the same mistakes I did. Make your own. Mistakes; mine are all taken. I like that quote! Thanks for sharing in my birthday. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). There is so muc.

Dave in Nome: November 2006
http://daveinnome.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
A few thoughts from the sub-Arctic. Tuesday, November 28, 2006. This past weekend, a blizzard blew into Nome, and we got our first real taste of Alaskan winter. We'd already had several weeks of snow on the ground - snow that would blow around like sand when it became cold and windy - but this definitely took things "up a notch." (Bam! The wind chill.). Snow at home always seems as fickle as rain: it might dominate today, but it's gone tomorrow. As a result, I think it's more of a curiosity in Jersey.

Dave in Nome: December 2007

A few thoughts from the sub-Arctic. Thursday, December 20, 2007. Originally uploaded by david.dodman. A group shot of the KNOM staff! I often get reflective, introspective, or even downright existential on long trips. One might call that the product of boredom, but I prefer to think of it as the luxury of unstructured time. Sitting, thinking, and staring out the window can be surprisingly relaxing when there's no guilt that you're not being productive. De-facto homecomings also brought me up to New Haven...

Dave in Nome: Undecided?
http://daveinnome.blogspot.com/2008/11/undecided.html
A few thoughts from the sub-Arctic. Saturday, November 01, 2008. I haven't written on this blog in a few months now. I'd like to think it's not because of a lack of things to say, but rather because of an overabundance: a lot of my free time has been consumed with following the presidential elections, and it's only gotten worse as the clock has ticked closer to November 4th. But sometimes, being a political- and media-junkie yields something insightful - or, better yet, provides some much-needed humor.

The Brass Family: May 2012

Keep up with Jeff, Sarah, Naia, and Fin! Wednesday, May 16, 2012. How to make a raised bed garden. First dig up a 4 by 8 area in the sunniest spot in your yard. Try to convince your neighbors that you truly are putting in a vegetable garden and not burying evidence. Get a 3 year old and 1 year old to do the hard, manual labor. Unfortunately, they get distracted SO easily. Pretty butterfly. Then, go "help" Daddy who is doing the sawing and drilling. Pick up the box of screws and then dump them ALL out.

We had such a wonderful visit with Naia and Sarah.Lucas was very sad when he realized his playmate had left town. Naia stayed very busy playing with "Baby Lucas" and chasing him throughout the house. It is so much fun to be around a 4-year-old (and very tiring too! Playing at the park. Out for lunch.(look closely to find Lucas). Cruising around the house.

The Krieg Family: January 2012
http://thekriegs.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 27, 2012. Last Friday was Brendon's birthday so we celebrated the way all 32-year-olds dream of - with a pizza party and giant chocolate chip cookie. Happy Birthday, Brendon! To follow up on my last post, the bedroom swap didn't end up happening as planned. Colin was sick and spent most of the weekend sleeping like this. It was very sweet for Brendon and me to spend the weekend snuggling with our little man, but nothing makes you feel worse than a sick kiddo :(. Monday, January 16, 2012.
