Confessions of a Sicilian foodie.: November 2013

http://confessionsofasicilianfoodie.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Confessions of a Sicilian foodie. Wednesday, November 27, 2013. This is an old recipe I have had for a long time and recently dug it out for a requested birthday cake. We have made it a few times since and it seems to be a crowd pleaser. One of my biggest pet peeves is dry cake. I hate it. This one is not. The pumpkin really makes it nice and moist. 2 C of sugar. 1 C vegetable oil I do have an old olive oil cake recipe I need to dig up again). 2 C AP flour. 2 t baking soda. 1 t baking powder. In this par...

http://confessionsofasicilianfoodie.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Confessions of a Sicilian foodie. Friday, June 28, 2013. This recipe starts out much like a choux pastry, for those that have made cream puffs or eclairs, or read the post "If the choux fits". 1 1/2 C water. 2 t salt (I used sea salt). 2 C AP flour. 3/4 C Ricotta salata (or feta, or queso fresco). At this point, I will insert that I originally adapted the recipe from http:/ www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Herb-Gnocchi-231342. I actually had help with this part, and my helper used scissors). *Im...

This looked great and pretty easy. 5 cups fresh blueberries (from about 2 1/2 eleven-ounce containers). 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice. Pinch of coarse kosher salt. 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour. 1/4 teaspoon coarse kosher salt. 1 1/2 cups crème fraîche or sour cream plus additional for serving. Confessions of a Sicilian foodie. Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Italy Pics, because I like them. Appeninne Colussus, Villa Di Pratolino, Tuscany. Arco della Pace, Milano. Blue Hour, St Peter's Basilica. Boccadasse, Genoa, Liguria. Links to this post. Borrowed from a friend, looked great. Again, I greatly dislink dry cake, so, here's a promising "moist" cake recipe. Double Chocolate Coca Cola Cake. 1 cup Coca Cola (real thing, not diet). 1 teaspoon baking soda. 6 Tablesppon of cream or milk. Links to this post.

Confessions of a Sicilian foodie. Monday, December 16, 2013. Preheat oven to 325°. 2 C biscotti crumbs (or graham cracker for a more traditional method, I find the biscotti to make a nice firm crust). 6 T melted butter. 2 lbs cream cheese (I like Philadelphia, some say they cannot tell the difference, maybe it's a placebo affect, but I believe I can tell the difference. Also, cream cheese needs to be at room temp). 1 1/2 C sugar. 1 C salted caramel. So, my next one is done as I described above. 4 oz choc...
