The next day we had a discussion about prayers, mainly that we should pray in the morning and at night, and she has now taken to saying her own prayers in the morning. I believe this is so she can pray for siblings. Though she's now just praying for a sister and a baby sister. She told me she didn't need a brother because he would probably break her toys. Gluten free (and then some). Wednesday, April 25, 2012. We mailed in our adoption paperwork today! Handing the envelope to the mail clerk. I spent a crazy morning tracking down the last-minute papers, determining what still needed to be signed (and notorized), which checks need to be written, calling the agency to make sure I'm not forgetting anything, and so on. We got the forms notorized while Mr M was on his lunch break, then LMS and I took them to the post office. Home visits and adoption training.

Gluten free (and then some). Thursday, June 14, 2012. Yesterday we had our individual interviews with our caseworker and today we turned in the last of our extra paperwork. And had our home study! Next week we'll finish our required training and we'll write our letter to birth parents and put together our profile. Thursday we ate paleo Coconut Flour Waffles. For lunch we had leftover Chicken and Vegetable Lo-Mein. That I made for dinner Tuesday night. Gluten free (and then some). Friday, September 21, 2012. Nightshade Free Sweet Dry Rub. When I made ribs this week, I first had to make the BBQ sauce. And the dry rub. BBQ rubs usually have paprika in them, but paprika is made from peppers and I can't eat it, even in small amounts. Because of the lack of paprika and the presence of black pepper, this rub is a bit peppery instead of spicy. Adapted from a recipe found here. Other ideas are there as well). 6 Tbl brown sugar. 3 Tbl ground black pepper.

Initially I wanted to be done with kindergarten by Memorial Day so we could have the whole summer off. But then I reconsidered what our school schedule should be. A traditional 9 months on, 3 months off? I like the idea of not doing schoolwork for 3 months, but didn't like the idea of wasting time doing review in the fall.

We tried a year-round schedule this year, so we've been doing a rotation of 3 weeks of school/1 week of vacation, with a 3 week break at Christmas and another in July.
