Daily life down the allotment
A year in the making…. | allotmentbuzz
https://allotmentbuzz.wordpress.com/2016/02/07/a-year-in-the-making
Daily life down the allotment. A year in the making…. February 7, 2016. The trouble with having two blogs is that you have to remember to post to the right blog. Projects this year – where do I start? I have also begun building a bug hotel out of old pallets but it is a slow process due to a blunt saw and weedy biceps. Never give up is my motto, so it could be ready by early summer and my biceps might have grown too, which will be an added bonus for those big jobs on the horizon. Semi-retired teacher int...
Slowly Does It | allotmentbuzz

Daily life down the allotment. July 20, 2015. Most weekends and days were now being spent preparing the paths and soil for the planting season that lies ahead. This is the exciting time, scanning seed packets and scribbling diagrams. Then the slugs arrived, followed by the red ants marching closely behind in their millions – and they bite. Slowly does it though! That’s a different story. View all posts by diddybuzz ». Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public). You ar...
“That is a field, not an allotment”. | allotmentbuzz
https://allotmentbuzz.wordpress.com/2015/07/19/that-is-a-field-not-an-allotment
Daily life down the allotment. 8220;That is a field, not an allotment”. July 19, 2015. As I approached the tall gates, smothered by twisted barbed wire, I could feel the excitement building. I knew on my return, I would probably have signed on the dotted line, for an allotment of some size. At this stage, there was no turning back. What a jungle of intertwining plants, long bare stalks, old raised-beds leaning to one side, rotting at either end! Semi-retired teacher interested in many things, of which th...

Daily life down the allotment. Dibbers, dirt and goals. July 18, 2015. A change of direction? What do I know about gardening, let alone growing fruit and vegetables? Admittedly, I enjoyed looking at my father’s vegetable patch and helped out occasionally, even if it was on the understanding that I could pinch and eat a few fresh peas. My mother also nurtured her flower borders with great expertise and ease. Now it is my turn and I am the pupil. Derby, Derby, UK. View all posts by diddybuzz ». A Primary H...

Daily life down the allotment. Semi-retired teacher interested in many things, of which the allotment is one of them. I get great enjoyment out of growing food, cooking and sharing it with friends and family. When I am not travelling, tutoring or walking our retriever, I like to experiment with digital photography - so a blog about all of these things seems fun. Note: I have two blogs - Allotmentbuzz and PrimaryOakwoodTutor. February 7, 2016. A year in the making…. February 7, 2016. I have also begun bui...

Not quite an allotment blog – veggietoots
https://veggietoots.wordpress.com/2015/08/12/not-quite-an-allotment-blog
I have an allotment, I grow vegetables and I attempt to cook them. I report back on the process (or lack thereof). Not quite an allotment blog. August 12, 2015. September 8, 2015. This isn’t an allotment blog per se. This is about the two apple trees residing in the back garden (an eater and a cooker is all I know) but let’s pretend they’re at the allotment, OK? 225 g self-raising flour. 1 level teaspoon baking powder. 225 g caster sugar. 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. 150 g butter, melted. August 12, 2015...

Mail Online - David Derbyshire's Allotment Blog
26 November 2012 12:25 PM. The smallest butternut squash in the world. We men are always being told that size isnt everything. But even so. After months of watering, feeding, weeding and love this was all the three (yes three) butternut squash plants could manage. Pathetic isnt the word. Small is. Last year a Canadian gardener called Joel Jarvis grew a 1,500lb squash. Mine barely registered on the kitchen scales. Its been one of those years. Roll on 2013. November 26, 2012 Permalink. Ive discussed this f...
The Allotment Blog
August 26, 2008. I may be joining the obligatory ‘courgette glut’ moaning, but I actually love courgettes (or zucchini). So I have not been troubled by eating them day after day, and have quite enjoyed trying out new ideas. Here are some of them. Jamie Oliver has a recipe with bacon (as traditional) in it, here. Just fine on its own or great with the carbonara. (based on the recipe here. COURGETTES STUFFED WITH PEA RISOTTO. I made a version of Ragu loosely based on the one at Cooking Light ( here. I know...

Allotment cats
Feral cats (and one which isn't) living at Walsall Road Allotments. Monday, 9 September 2013. He had lived with us for three years and was the first cat to be re-homed to us. He didn't enjoy living indoors so it was decided that he should be an 'outdoor' cat. He joined our group of feral cats and lived quite happily with them, especially Triangle and Janet. He was a real little character and will be missed. Monday, September 09, 2013. Monday, 14 January 2013. The cats have their own shed now. Just in cas...
Allotment Chick | Tales from my lottie amongst other things…
Tales from my lottie amongst other things…. July 21, 2008. Has it really been that long! What a fantastic place to be able to spend a year gardening…which is what I’ll be doing. I won’t have much money for the year, but at least i’ll be spending it learning loads and doing something I really enjoy. Well, that’s all for now, i’m off to spray my tomatoes with some horsetail spray…wonder if it will keep the blight at bay? June 18, 2008. Any suggestions would be welcome :-). Posted in My Allotment. I popped ...
